This whimsical 4,000 sf Mid-Century Modern pad provides a relaxing escape from the rat race, with 2 guest bedrooms & en-suite bath, a cavernous 800 sf great room, gourmet kitchen, dining table for 8, hot tub, porch & patios, all on one level. Rejuvenate on 3 acres of landscaped grounds directly on Lake Whitehurst (freshwater fishing).

Wonderful Bachelorette weekend at Wiseacre!

So many good things to say about our stay at Wiseacre, but hands-down the best thing was Chuck’s hospitality. Chuck was so welcoming and accommodating to our large group while also giving us plenty of privacy and space to do our own thing. The house was immaculate and every inch of it is filled with history and a unique flare that makes it extra special. Our group loved getting to know the history of the home and enjoyed getting to know Chuck. Charlotte is the sweetest, most welcoming pup ever and our group couldn’t get enough of her, so that’s an added bonus. There were plenty of sleeping arrangements available for our group and we were very comfortable whether in the beds, built-ins, and other mattress options. The lake is beautiful and the location was great—Chuck had awesome recommendations for a beach trip and the thoughtful guidebook has endless recommendations. If this property is available for your dates, you must book it—you won’t regret it!

We had a lovely stay at Wiseacre Estate. Chuck is extremely welcoming and hospitable. The mid century estate is whimsical and fun and a blast from the past! You will enjoy the nostalgic trinkets placed sporadic throughout the home. The bed was comfortable and the room darkening curtains are a nice touch. Coffee on the back deck taking in the gorgeous views was my favorite part! Oh and lounging on the Adirondack chairs watching the fireflies in the evening was magical! Thank you Chuck for making our stay so wonderful!

Weekend getaway for Point Break Music Festival

Where do I begin? Chuck. The one and only. He’s a delightful host, and I think I could have spent days talking to him about his estate, being surrounded by so many of my favorite things there, however, we were occupied by the festivities down on the beach most of our time- so i mostly saw him in the mornings and Charlotte, love her. My son slept in the main room and his first remark was “I have the best seat in the whole house” and he’s not wrong! The view from there is just spectacular. I also napped in various sleeping spaces and they’re all lovely and comfortable, I have back problems and I slept fabulously. The kitchen is exquisite and there’s always coffee waiting in the morning, thank you Chuck. I mean, I feel like every room could have an entire essay written about it. Even the grounds outside have their own story. I definitely enjoyed the swing hung up in a big tree out back with a great view of the lake, made me feel like a kid again. We all had a blast at the Point Break Music Festival, and chillin at the beach- but it felt so good to come rest at Chuck’s lovely home, I wish the weekend was longer!!!I hope to come for a longer visit at Wiseacre

Reconnecting

We came to visit our son who just returned from deployment and his family. We just hung out mostly at the house. There was plenty of room for our little ones to play and run around. I wouldn’t say it’s the most young child friendly with all the pretties and niceties all around. Our toddlers understand don’t touch so we were fine. Beautiful property and location on the lake. Chuck was great, and we hardly saw him. Interesting guy to talk to. He always had coffee ready in the mornings. Charlotte is a sweetheart and loved by all of us.

BACH Party takes on WISEACRE

Chuck and Charlotte were absolutely amazing. So thankful for the relationship we created with them. We came here for my bachelorette weekend and honestly could not have been more perfect for the group of girls we had! Location was amazing. The house itself was everything that was described and seen in the photos! Thank you, Chuck for allowing us girls to stay at your home and enjoy such a wonderful weekend! 10 out of 10 would recommend! Please keep in mind when booking this VRBO that it is very close to the airport, so a lot of jet noise! But did not bother us one bit. If you are looking for places near the area to visit, definitely make it to the beach, we personally went to Chesapeake Beach! and take a trip to the blue cow for some ice cream! If you’re looking for a night out, back deck is a wonderful spot to go, not too far from the Vrbo. lastly, wanted to talk about Chuck and Charlotte. They were both so welcoming. And assisted in anyway Chuck possibly could. Gave us plenty of good recommendations to go for dinner!

Lovely Stay for our Bachelorette Weekend

All 10 of us ladies stayed at Chuck's property for a long weekend full of lounging, traveling downtown and to the beach. Chuck gave us fantastic recommendations and perfect communication as well as an appropriate amount of privacy and alone time. Great place to bring all your friends together. Lots of outdoor space to be together as well as a big living room and kitchen which we enjoyed. Charlotte, Chucks sweet little queen was an added bonus.

Perfect space for gatherings

I hosted a small photo meetup at Wiseacre and it was the perfect space for it! The owner is fantastic and flexible to your needs. The decor is so unique and fun and the view of the lake is lovely. I loved using the hot tub as well! Thanks Chuck! I would definitely recommend to anyone needing a space that can fit a group of people, or if you just need a getaway!

Anniversary Weekend Getaway & Party

Stunning views of the lake. Spacious grand living room, perfect for entertaining. State of the art large kitchen for preparation and enjoyment. Two comfortable bedrooms with a jack and Jill bathroom. And an amazing host - Chuck took care of every need and concern, he helped me coordinate which took less stress off of me.

Wonderful Stay!

The owner of the property, Chuck, is a wonderful and gracious host. He gave us a full tour and described the very cool history of Wiseacre. He accepted our two med-large dogs who loved to run across the vast yard and tested out the lake. We immediately felt right at home and enjoyed the use of the house. Chuck is super relaxed and generous with the use of his home. And those views - wow! We highly recommend staying at Wiseacre!

10 year anniversary

Chuck was a great host! He welcomed us with open arms into his beautiful home. On site you have everything you need, space, hot tub, privacy, lake views, nature, and close proximity to just about anything. The location is very centrally located to Norfolk, VA Beach, Cape Charles, and Hampton. Wiseacres provided us with the most comfortable place to site see, relax on the lake or take a 5 min drive to low key peaceful beaches. I recommend this place to anyone and I hope to return again someday. Thanks for everything Chuck!

Unique Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home with 1960’s vibe

My family of 6 adults and two children was in town to visit my mother in law. This was one of the most unique and interesting VRBOs we have ever stayed in. The host who resides in the property with his dog Charlotte has restored the home to its 1960’s heyday with modern upgrades of the kitchen and bathrooms. It is a museum of 1960’s pop culture and an eclectic collection of art with an emphasis on giraffes.while we ate take out, the kitchen has high end appliances and is well equipped for cooking. The dining room table easily seats 8 and is beautiful. The term Great room doesn’t do justice to the expansive living space anchored by a S shaped red leather couch surrounded by other mid century modern chairs and chaises. There is a cozy speak easy type bar areas and a screened in porch with hot tub. The two bedrooms are small but adequate with comfortable beds and shared full bath which has obviously been updated. The host was like a museum curator who passionately talked about the house and decor and then vanished to his rooms to allow us to enjoy the museum after hours. imagine the parties that occurred here. The home, situated on a large lakefront lot has views that are awe inspiring including watching the planes take off and land at the Norfolk airport. Don’t let the fact that this is a 2 BR with 1 and 1/2 baths deter you from renting this house for up to 12. There are lots of options for sleeping in the great room. We are still talking about it.
