"Bare super hotel"

"I stayed 5 nights in the 5 star hotel but should be a 4 star. 30 yrs old hotel in dire need of a renovation.Great location near metro, restaurants and supermarkets. The view to Museum of the Future was fantastic. The rooms were very big and had a small kitchen. The management took care of complaints in a very professional manner and the staff at the hotel were very nice. The buffet in the restaurant during ramadan was very good. Did not try breakfast. On the minus side: booked a non-smoking room due to lung problems but hotel would not confirm a non-smoking room. They also ignored my mails and questions reg. transfer. The rooms were dated and had old smelling carpets and furniture. Windows were shut closed so no fresh air. The unpleasant smell was disguised all over the hotel with a heavy toilet like air freshener smell. Cant recommend hotel for anybody with lung or allergy problems. Pool had the greatest view but was next to 20+ motorway lanes with heavy traffic- SOOOO NOISY. There were only 19 sunbeds for a potential 1000 guests. Would have been nice if pool opened 7 am for an early swim. Pool closed 7 pm (also a shame) and already from 6 pm, hotel staff asked us to leave and removed the sunbeds. They were very rude. For comparison, I stayed in a new 5-star hotel, The First Collection Business Bay with free access to the private beach club Soluna on the Palm. It was such a different experience. Going back to Dubai, I would absolutely chose a new 5-star hotel instead "

"Very friendly and competent staff. Hotel a bit warn down as carpet in room is stained and the smell a bit uncomfortable. Love the Amouage beauty products. Quality of hotel and offerings not as in previous stays. Breakfast served in a hallway as there was 700 guests in hotel and the restaurant was to small. The sister tower is dead. No retaurants anymore and no destination for tourists. This is a hotel for business travelers..."

"We booked 3 rooms, and for all 3 rooms we selected a higher catagory with "view" added. For a 40-floor hotel, then I am expecting floor 15+ to experience a view in any direction. We got installed in the second floor, supposedly rooms with a view are "subject to availability" and the rooms with view are towards the street. As this hotel is situacted next to an 8-lane highway, a 2nd floor "view" is nothing else than cars, cars and cars. We were able to get one room moved to the 17th floor. DON'T SELL ROOMS WITH A VIEW, IF THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE. Overall the hotel was excellent, staff was (mostly) friendly and very servicable. Special thanks to the concierge who helped us out on anything we needed for activities. But everything is dragged down by the fact that we got installed on the second floor."
