"The property is beautiful and has a middle of the jungle feeling. The walking paths are nice and provide views of lots of different animals. The buffets available throughout the property are pretty good. The steak restaurant was really good. Now for the not so good. The Italian restaurant was not good at all. I really do think they need to reevaluate the menu and maybe hire an actual Italian chef, let’s just say the minestrone looked more like sopa de fideo and the lasagna didn’t have a tomato...

"Overall the room was roomy and clean and the bathroom was huge and the shower was great. The pool area is super small and doesn’t seem like it fits the hotels capacity. "We have stayed at this property multiple times over the years and this time we noticed the property has not been maintained well . The pool deck and lounge chairs definitely need attention. The prices have become ridiculous - $18 dollar drinks are higher than Las Vegas prices. The service was very good as always. Adrian the pool guy was great! "

"Be very cautious upon arrival at check in the hotel sets you up with a person promising gifts if we attend a short talk about some hotel discount. When attending it appears that this is a kind of “timeshare” scam asking us to pay a whopping 11,000USD and we are not allowed to see anything or think about it. Looking at reviews later of “leading vacation club” shows that it is a big scam owned by the hotel and a lot of people has paid this amount. The pools was full of algae’s during our 1 week...

"We had a nice visit here at the Melia in Cozumel. I would give it a 9 out of 10 rating. As others have mentioned, I would recommend upgrading to the Level experience. Better food options and other amenities, plus a bigger room. Place was very clean, room was nice and chilly, and everyone was exceptionally friendly. Overall the food was quite good, but I was disappointed by one thing. Both of the hotels offer entrees where you can upgrade and get something a little more expensive or exotic....

What we wish we knew before booking:
"Overall the room was roomy and clean and the bathroom was huge and the shower was great. The pool area is super small and doesn’t seem like it fits the hotels capacity. We stayed on the 4th floor, right underneath the pool and we had a super strange smell present in the room at all times. It was a mix of chlorine and mold. The beds are extremely soft and kinda swallows you. There is a dj present at the pool/bar area, playing extremely loud music, which we also had the “pleasure” of in our room….till 10 pm on Sunday. To add the cherry on top, they started construction and drilling right above our room at 6.45 am. The lady that checked us in, made us feel like we were a huge annoyance and definitely wasn’t a very pleasant welcome. She checked us out a few days later and nothing had changed in her attitude. We didn’t do the all inclusive, so we have no notes on the food. "
