Wombourne Leisure Centre

Room itsef was very acceptable. What spoiled it was the attitude of staff. We arrived early evening to an empty reception desk. The supplied buzzers ( two) were ineffective, so my wife went hunting to the adjacent restaurant. Finally found a manager and politely advised ....the problem. Manager bustled off to investigate. SEVERAL minutes later receptionist arrived- no apology, simple curt execution of check in. Not impressed. Room accessed and bags deposited, we decided to head t the bar for a quick beer. UNSURPRISINGLY- no real ales on offer ( all three handpulls out of commission, and looked as though they had been for some time. Only beer on offer was their IPA, STUNNINGLY average. Advised to sit in bar area rather than restaurant (we werent eating.). Tables and floor filthy/ sticky with dirty glasses and crisp packets the choice of decor. Even by Greene King's appallingly low standards, this was a new record. We gave the option of breakfast a definite miss Nobody on reception as we left - key deposit box had been left behind the counter and effectively inaccessible. We accessed it and left. Mercifully, unlikely to ever need to stay there again.
