Peruse Whitby’s quirky cobbled streets filled with independent shops, cafes and restaurants before exploring the bustling harbour (0.5 miles), which sits in the shadow of the Gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey (0.5 miles on foot). Keen walkers can climb the famous 199 Whitby Abbey steps which lead from the old town to St. Mary’s Church (0.5 miles), whilst those eager to answer the call of the sea can enjoy 2 miles of golden sand lined with colourful beach huts at Whitby Beach (0.5 miles).
Kick off sandy shoes and walking boots in the entrance hall of this charming cottage and move on through to the welcoming lounge to unwind after days of seaside adventure. Here, a roaring gas fire sits in a brick fireplace, casting a warming glow as you relax on the sofa and watch the TV with an Amazon firestick. When stomachs begin to rumble, head over to the well-appointed kitchen/diner, where you’ll find everything needed to cook up feasts for your loved ones, perhaps using the local ingredients you sourced in Whitby’s centre. Gather round the dining table inside to enjoy the chef’s work or eat alfresco in the adjoining courtyard garden when the weather permits. At the end of each day away, three sumptuous bedrooms are spread across the first and second floors, all of which are served by the second-floor family bathroom. On the first floor, choose from a beautiful master king-size bedroom with a beamed ceiling or a cosy double room with views of famous Whitby Abbey. Up on the second floor, a welcoming single bedroom completes the interior.
From sunrise to sunset, the characterful courtyard garden, featuring a decked area and beautiful mature planting, offers the perfect space to soak up the salty sea air with a morning coffee or evening tipple. The decking’s bistro set is ideal for al fresco meals together. Please note there is no designated parking for the cottage but there are pay and display areas nearby.
