"It was really hamming up its Scottishness. Fake suits of armour, shields on the wall, animal skulls everywhere. Just wasn’t classy. The food was ok. They had tried with the vegan option - gnocchi with fried mushrooms - but could have done with some veg and a sauce. They’d run out of Pinot Grigio Blush. However the only real complaint was the price over £300 for a night, and it really wasn’t worth that. The bathroom was much lower quality than I’d expect for that price. Chipped laminate bath...

One that is so authentic, with so much history and run by staff that is absolutely second to none. We can’t say enough good things about this place, the comfort, the location.
