"I visited Barcelo Maya Riviera in April of 2026. The pool was very large and never felt crowded. The food at the buffet was amazing. They serve breakfast and lunch and an early dinner as the buffet closes at 6pm. So either have an early dinner or visit one of the many à la carte restaurants. "Very disappointed with this resort. I chose it based on reviews that did not match reality. The rooms were clean, but the bathrooms were very outdated. There was no visible security, guests were fighting around 2–3 AM after parties, and no staff came to check on them, which felt unsafe and disrupted sleep. The beach also had no security. Buffet food was limited, soups were overly salty, and items were not refilled if you came later. Not suitable for a relaxing vacation—more of a party place....
