Beautiful hotel, ideally placed for enjoying the historic walled city. Food was fabulous, the swimming pool an oasis of joy on a warm day Staff could not have been nicer.

Visited with my wife for three nights. Really wanted to like this hotel as it is in a magical location and itself is very beautiful and classy. But the experience fell short of expectations. Wifi was a nightmare because it never connected. Only way to connect was through the TV via a QR Code or website but it never worked. My complaints to the front desk basically fell on deaf ears with the refrain that “the technician” would handle. Seemed to be a hotel-wide problem. Mentioned it again at checkout but no offer of credit or even an apology. Also, had room service that gave me a 30 Euro bland steak and fries that was not properly cooked or rotten as it made me violently ill the entire night. Hotel staff also was not friendly and generally cold in disposition. For $400 per night this was not worth it.

El hotel es un clásico. Soy visitante frecuente desde 1993. Tiene un problema: le falta staff entre el bar y el restaurante, y eso que es un estrella de Michelin. Ves a los camareros abrumados y sin poder atender correctamente. Yo seguiré visitándoles, soy cliente fiel, por ello espero que atiendan este detalle.

Excellent hotel in medieval Carcassonne
The hotel itself is in an amazing old building, and the room was very nice - with a shower, a separate full-size shower, a separate WC, and a dual sink. The only disappointment was the bed, which we did not find particularly comfortable. Otherwise, everything was excellent. The medieval city of Carcassonne is tiny - you can walk from one end of it to another in 5 minutes, but this hotel is away from the noise of the low-end restaurants . . . and it contains its own amazing restaurant, Le Barbacane. We recommend trying that restaurant. We visited the city in February, for Valentines. It turns out that quite a few shows and restaurants are closed because it is the low season. That means that there are fewer people, but it is a trade-off to consider.

Disappointing
No, you can t be a spa hotel but not have spa facilities available. After a day of driving we had high hopes and we spent good money, only to be told that the spa is fully booked, we stayed one night and we called in the morning to book the spa (weird a spa hotel needs to have spa bookings) but there was no good will towards us, which one does not expect from a 5 star hotel. Other positive aspects were shadowed by this.

This was a truly wonderful stay. Our room was wonderful with a a terrace which looked at the castle turrets. The staff was extremely welcoming and gracious. The restaurant was completely booked, but the concierge make reservations for us at another restaurant. I would highly recommend this hotel for a truly memorable stay.

Really one of a kind place that was a great experience and i would recommend. Small annoyances such as a difficult to use shower, an undercooked entree (with no offer to replace or cook further), and an overpriced breakfast preclude a perfect rating.

A beautiful hotel set within the castle walls. Great rooms, service and food. The only point to note would be as its a very old building some of the showers are not great for tall people, however well worth the stay. A really special spot.

Outstanding in all areas. Rooms were clean, beautifully appointed with air con. The area around the hotel is the old city of Carcassonne with its ancient origins, perfect to stroll around and learn some history. Highly recommend this hotel.

Such a unique property and location. You have to park outside the castle walls in the designated hotel parking and then you can walk 5 mins or get a lift up to the hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, but the steps could use a bit of repairs. I was worried it would be noisy since we were on the ground level by reception and the outdoor bar, but we didn’t hear a thing.

This hotel was a fabulous stay, my only hesitation to not give 5 stars is that when I checked in I put my personal items int the safe, locked it and left to go explore. When I came back a staff member had been in my room to prep for bed (turn the covers and add a chocolate)…but the safe was open! Nothing seemed to be missing but it left a pit in my stomachs. When I brought it up to the front desk, they said our staff is trustworthy and didn’t see why I was alarmed. This was not what I expected, I felt rattled, especially because I am traveling alone from the us and had my passport and other important documents in there. Other than this it was a wonderful stay and really enjoyed the amazing dinner I had at the on site restaurant that evening. The restaurant staff were wonderful and treated me amazing even the ouch I speak almost no French:)

Had wonderful room with large terrace and great views. Electrics and plumbing need updating. Electical sockets at ground level which meant crawling around to get at socket behind table. No information about room service displayed so had to ask at reception to arrange breakfast in our room on our last day.

Fantastic location and good pool.
Fantastic location in the old city, good swimming pool. Helpful staff. Quite hard to get to as no cars allowed in city, hotel is a maze and quite hard to navigate, room had not been properly cleaned (previous guest’s clothes were in drawers). Decor etc is getting a bit tired.

Peace and Luxury
My husband and I had a fabulous two night stay in Carcassonne We thoroughly enjoyed our two days of peace and luxury before embarking on a family holiday in France with all our children and grandchildren . The hotel was beautiful the staff and service second to none. Friendly helpful nothing was to much trouble. We will come again and stay longer next time.

Heel bijzonder om ‘s avonds door het uitgestorven stadje te lopen! Het hotel voelt als een filmset van Harry Potter. Heerlijk eten in restaurant Barbacane.

Sejour de qualité dans un tres bel établissement. Il me semble cependant que le service est un peu en dessous de ce que l'on pourrait attendre d'un établissement 5*. Pour exemple malgré plusieurs passages avec une poussette dans les escaliers devant la conciergerie, pas une seule proposition d'aide ou encore une incapacité a nous conseiller un bon restaurant, le fait de devoir descendre au bar exterieur pour avoir une biere pression en room, le croque monsieur servi sans salade au snack, les serviettes de bains propres mais tachées... Une somme de details qui doivent faire la difference et qui durant notre sejour sont tombés du mauvais côté.
