The hotel doesn't have a front desk; you have to call a number to get your room code. There's no breakfast, no receptionist, and no room service. I wouldn't stay there again!

TLDR version - paying reservation doesn’t guarantee a room, broken heat, no one that can help with urgent or emergent situations. It’s a self-check-in hotel, so there is no one to help in case of issues - and there were many. Another guest who arrived at the same time I did (around 10pm) had no room available for him, even though he paid for the reservation. Luckily the same did not happen to me, but still needed 30 min on the phone to get my access code. Once I got to my room, I found that the heating was not working. Mind you it was 40 degrees outside and the thermostat showed it to be 50 degrees inside my room. Again, called the help line and took another 30 minutes to get someone on the phone. Once I got someone to talk to, they tell me no one is on site that can fix it. And they have to call someone in. There are also no other rooms they can give me. I wait another 30 minutes, call them up again and it takes another 30 min to get someone on the phone. They finally tell me I will have to wait til the morning for someone to look at it. I left and booked a room at another hotel with functioning heat. Still trying to recoup the costs. Bad experience all around.

I would not recommend making a reservation at this property. They do not have a front desk, which would normally not be an issue. However, they did not send us our access codes to get into the building, so we were stranded without a hotel. A full day passed and we never did receive the codes. They assured us they would send the access codes soon enough, but they never actually did.
After reserving a room at another hotel at the last minute, I asked Expedia for a refund. They were able to contact the hotel, where they learned that the hotel did not have any clean rooms available, hence they did not give us the access codes. Fortunately I was able to get a refund.
I believe this hotel is incredibly mismanaged, given our experience. We had previously stayed at this property when it was owned by Marriott (under the Sonder brand), and it was a great stay. I suspect this is where the high ratings come from. However, it looks like the new ownership is incompetent and has no issue taking your money when they have no rooms for you. I recommend saving yourself the stress of having to make a last-minute reservation at another hotel by avoiding this property altogether.

This was a great, spacious room in a convenient area - close to subway & bus stops. The coded entry worked great and felt very safe. Plus, the rooftop patios offered terrific views of Manhattan.
I wished for a coffee maker and a blow dryer, but found a wonderful bagel shop down the street with friendly service and good coffee that totally made up for those minor inconveniences.
Would definately stay here again!

I was given no indication that there was no staff at this hotel when I booked it. I received a message through Expedia telling me I would be sent a code to enter the building the day of our arrival. It never came. When we got there a cleaning staff person let us in but we had no code to enter a room. Another guest in the lobby pointed out a small sign on the door to call. The person on the phone emailed me the code and said I hadn’t gotten it earlier because the room wasn’t ready- this was an hour after the stated check-in time. During our four days there we encountered several other people looking bewildered about how to check it- we directed them to the phone number on the door. We needed a box of tissues during our stay but there was no one to ask. We bought some. We stayed here previously when it was Sonder and it was great but this new management needs to figure out a better system. Won’t be back.

Definitely get what you pay for here. Served its purpose for a quick trip to Queens where location convenience was needed. Not having any staff on site was very off putting as several issues came up that there was essentially no customer support for.

Got to our hotel at 6:30pm. Check in is supposedly at 4pm. Put in the code to our hotel room and the room had towels on the floor. Left over food. Undone used beds. No one had cleaned from the previous guests. I had to be on hold while someone resolved the issue which wasn’t even resolved well. We were 3 and had paid for a double queen bedroom yet forced to take a “king size” room with one bed. I was with my in laws and forced to all sleep on one bed in a tiny room. We were late to our event that evening because instead of getting ready we were in the lobby waiting to be told via phone call that they’re all booked. I have stood with Sonder in Florence and Madrid and my experience was 1000 percent better than this.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at the Dutch Hotel NY was completely unacceptable.
On March 19, around 11:00 PM, I arrived with my family, including two children. The room had clearly not been cleaned after the previous guests: garbage everywhere, unmade beds with used sheets, and a dirty bathroom. There was no staff on site. We immediately contacted customer service, but no real solution was offered. We were told that no other rooms were available and that it was impossible to send anyone to clean, even though rooms were visibly available online. The time of arrival does not change anything: a prepaid room should be clean and ready.
We were left with no choice but to clean the room and change the bedding ourselves, late at night, with our children. I could have understood the situation if the hotel had made any effort to correct their mistake, but that was not the case. The responses I received after contacting the hotel for a week appeared to be automated (AI-generated), saying they would look into the issue, but with no real follow-up or action.
I contacted Expedia four times and followed all the required steps. After 17 days of endless back-and-forth, which cost me a significant amount of time and energy, I finally received a 50% refund for the first night. Even though a refund was issued, it is clearly insufficient given the severity of the issue, the complete lack of service, and the time lost.
This situation cast a shadow over our trip and turned

The hotel did not send the access code required to enter the building or the room, so I had to call to obtain it. Additionally, the listing on Expedia indicated that the room included a bathtub, but the room I was given did not have one. The mattress was also very uncomfortable and uneven.
Due to these issues, I spent a significant amount of time on the phone with customer service. I informed them that I did not wish to stay under these conditions, so I left the hotel and booked a room at another nearby property. Despite this, the hotel refused to issue a refund.

This hotel is self check in I did not see anyone at the front desk the entire 3 days we stayed there! In order to get your room code or even enter the lobby you need to call the help line and the wait is so long! There was 6 different guests with the same problem all on the phone, when they say they will send details via email they never do. Find a different hotel
