Tuscan beauty by the sea

The house is an incredible European styled beauty that is equipped with anything you would need to enjoy time with family at the beach. The owners take great pride in not only the beautiful garden and grounds, but the incredibly appointed inside of the home had every luxury you could ever want and beautiful art and decor throughout. You can see this home has been painstakingly decorated with beautiful and interesting pieces from years of travel. We were greeted by the owner after driving for many hours with an infant from the Bay Area. While I admittedly was tired and not interested in the tour of the home and instruction on how to use everything, Kathryn made the experience friendly and interesting and I found it to be necessary in order to fully understand and enjoy all the amenities this home has to offer. Incredible views, close to everything with a relatively short drive, we found this gem to be exactly what we needed for a wonderful extended weekend with family. We would recommend to anyone looking for a well appointed home that is as incredible and enjoyable as the destination itself.

Short Getaway

The property was amazing, just as advertised. The managers were very accommodating and friendly. Beach access was right across the highway and very private. The villa was well maintained and very clean. Everything was in excellent working order and manager was very friendly and informative.

Amazing villa - a mini palace

We truly enjoyed the stay. The owners did a superb job combining historic and modern elements and the property is both indigenous and international. Every details have been worked on. The modern facilities are pleasantly blended in. The stove is a state of art piece. Hot tub, steam room, remote controlled fireplace, curtains, lights and sofas with quality fabrics… The place is a palace and we can live there.

Just what we needed

My niece and I stayed at the villa on a trip to see my nephew graduate from USC. Everything was just as described, absolutely gorgeous, peaceful and comfortable. Views of the ocean were mesmerizing, tons of frolicking dolphins off the coast. The home had everything we needed for a lovely day at La Piedra beach and anything else we might have wanted to do if we had more time to spend there. Don and Kathryn were lovely hosts, happy to explain everything. We didn't need to contact them for anything. Tons of birds in the yard and the sound of the ocean and the bubbling fountain and rabbits hopping around...it was all just ideal.

Beautiful home, great location

This is a beautiful home, immaculately maintained. It has so many amenities that it is difficult to take advantage of them in a single stay. The owner is very friendly and met us at check-in to show us everything about the home. Of course, the ocean views and the private Zen garden can’t be beat. Highly recommend!

Magical Vacation

Family of 4 with two teens stayed for a week in February. The property, the hosts and the location all exceeded our expectations. This beautiful house has breathtaking views as well as several peaceful hidden spots to relax. The interior is comfortable and well-appointed. It is a true luxury. We loved the location, but it is far from LA. We didn’t mind the daily drive to attractions in LA, but it always took at least an hour, sometimes closer to two. Santa Monica is about 45 minutes down PCH. There aren’t many restaurants nearby, but we loved Vintage Grocers, which was about 10-15 minutes away. They have terrific prepared foods. There are great trials in the canyons nearby and the beach is only 1/4 mile from the house (across PCH). Overall, the feel of the location is fairly rural and casual. We loved it! I hope we’ll be lucky enough to return someday. It was truly a magical vacation.

Fabulous Family Chateau Near Beach

If you love sunsets that lasts, huge kitchen and cozy/beautiful spaces - this is the place! This beautiful home was lovingly built and decorated with the owner’s special ‘finds’ from around the world. Unlike a typical VRBO, it is like being in a real home with hosts’s thoughtful amenities so we could enjoy our time relaxing in the garden, expansive deck or awesome family room. We spent Thanksgiving week here and cooked all meals in the well-equipped kitchen. Thank you Kathryn and Don for sharing your treasured home!

Relaxing retreat

The hosts, Kathryn and Don, are just as kinda as they are hospitable. The home is an extravagant villa decorated with the flavors of world. The deck provides views deep into the ocean. A short walk gives beach access to one of the quietest beaches in Malibu. This is a wonderful spot for anyone who loves the sites of Malibu but treasures privacy.

Amazing location

This home is amazing. The VIEW!!! It was very clean and Don took his time to show us around the little nooks and crannies of the outside. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the pictures do not do it justice. The pantry had plenty to make your stay memorable and we enjoyed several meals. We sat on the patio for breakfast and to watch the surfers do their thing. Thank you Kathryn and Don for sharing your home with us. We will return.

Absolutely perfect.

I'm getting married next month and my 4 Bridesmaids and I wanted to do a retreat for the weekend (we're all late 30's and they all have two kids each) so we wanted a very relaxing getaway and somewhere close to the ocean and beach. This place exceeded all expectations. The views are impossible to beat and it's only 15-20 minute drive from some of the absolute top restaurants Malibu. Some of my favorite parts of this trip were just waking up and having coffee with my friends on the porch watching all the surfers from the back patio and watching the hummingbirds splash in the fountain below in the garden. Kathryn was an INCREDIBLE host. The house had everything we could possibly need and she was thorough about all the details of the house (different remotes, how to operate the locks, etc). She was so very sweet and helpful in providing details about the area and local attractions. It is very apparent that she is very passionate about providing an incredible experience for her guests - and the house is just so gorgeous and clean. It was so wonderful to explore Malibu and go to hip spots like Nobu, Geoffries, and driving around Calabasas but some of the best moments of this trip were just being in this incredible home - it's hard to say goodbye to that view! I slept in the king suite with one of my friends and it was a very comfy bed with the ocean breeze coming in. And the shower is the stuff that dreams are made of (if you love a really luxurious shower!) I will definitely be back in the future and can't say enough good things about the property and the host. Thank you for making my engagement celebration with my friends so perfect!
