"This is listed as a 3 star hotel. It is not. It is the most luxurious hotel we’ve stayed at, including 5 star properties. The room was amazing. The location was perfect. Although everyone in Japan seems extraordinarily nice, the staff here beat even that standard. There was not one second of our time at this property that wasn’t perfect. 10/10. "

"This stay was absolutely wonderful, and the host was extremely attentive and understanding. The entire house is very well kept, and everything is in great condition. The bedroom and linens were very comfortable, and the large window in the room let's you wake up to a nice natural light (or block it out entirely if that's your thing). "We have a wonderful stay. The room size was a bit smaller than I had anticipated but that is to be expected given the location. And it’s away from the chaos. The location was perfect and was close to the public transportation and right in the Gion district. There were times I felt transported to the past which was surreal and made the trip more enjoyable. Staff were amazing and very friendly and helpful. Don’t expect a luxurious experience but expect a truly authentic one which is priceless. "

"We had a very good time at the hotel. A lot better than we expected. All the employees were good english speakers and gave us traveling tips and good japanese phrases to use with the locals. "Very comfortable hotel with a great location. The "smart" check in process is annoying and for us did not work at both Minn properties as hotels.com confirmation number is not the hotels reference number which causes confusion and needs assistance from humans that are not really there. They are there but they just tell you to use the online survey check-in process which is glitchy. We watched many travelers with similar issues."

"Our stay in Kyoto at the Resi Stay was wonderful. We were able to send some of our luggage ahead, and it was waiting for us at the check-in counter across the street from the train station, which is where you check in. We stayed in 1F and it was huge and very quiet, and it had laundry. We loved exploring Kyoto from this location, as it's so close to a very cute part. We only wish we made a better plan for seeing the rest of Kyoto. It's big and spread out. "

"My father and I stayed at Ishibekoji Muan on his first visit to Kyoto, and Shin went out of her way to make our stay wonderful. "Perfect location in Gion, easy walking distance to convenient bus stops and subway stops, as well as many restaurants/shops. The Shirakawa river was so relaxing to watch. From our room, we could see cranes, turtles and large fish! Excellent decor with art and beautiful lighting, incredibly spacious (3 stories, all with full bath) with nice amenities (coffee/tea, pajamas/robe, umbrellas, laundry!, rooftop deck) and all rooms/floors had separate lockable entry code. I had only minor quibbles...
