"It was really hamming up its Scottishness. Fake suits of armour, shields on the wall, animal skulls everywhere. Just wasn’t classy. The food was ok. They had tried with the vegan option - gnocchi with fried mushrooms - but could have done with some veg and a sauce. They’d run out of Pinot Grigio Blush. However the only real complaint was the price over £300 for a night, and it really wasn’t worth that. The bathroom was much lower quality than I’d expect for that price. Chipped laminate bath...

"Vi havde en rigtig god oplevelse på det centralt liggende hotel i Old Town Edinburgh. Gulvet knirkede, men det kunne ikke spænde ben for charmen, pladsen og den helt igennem fantastiske udsigt til Edinburgh Castle og Grassmarket. Morgenmaden var lækker, hotellet og værelset var rent og personalet var hjælpsomt."

"Hotellet ligger i nærheden af et trafikknudepunkt, så det har en praktisk beliggenhed. Det tager også kun en halv times tid at gå til The Royal Mile. Man skal lige være opmærksom på varmepumpen på værelset. Der er godt nok en termostat på væggen, men for enten at ændre på temperaturen eller slukke den helt, skal man kontakte receptionen."

"It was by far the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We paid more than £200 for a night, and did expect the 4 star experience it was sold as. But we got a room the size of a shoe box, overlooking a dirty back alley, and could “enjoy” the massive noise from a ventilator all night. And the service at the restaurant was not at all what you would expect at a 4 star hotel. Our dinner had to go back twice. So all in all: we cannot recommend this 1 star hotel in Edinburgh 👎"
