Cheap but maybe too cheap
Upon my day of arrival, I was met by a locked door, but another guest went out and I stepped in. Nobody was at the reception and there was no bell or way to contact the hotel. I waited for 10 min. and suddenly an elderly man appeared. He worked at the hotel and was mad at me. Accused me of forcing the door open as that would be the only way I could have gotten in. I told him how I got in but he accused me of trespassing. He gave me my key but was still very unpleasant.
After this I saw I had gotten an e-mail the day before explaining how to check in. The mistake was mine, but still unpleasant.
The room was clean enough but smelled like mould and a rather strong smell of sewer came from the bathroom every time the room above me flushed out.
The hairdryer was a very old mashine on the wall with a thick plastic tube through which the air blew. The front cover of the mashine was loose and fell off as soon as I used it. I told this at reception and he gave me a hand held hairdryer where much of the outer shell plastic had melted. Also the plastic around the controlbutton had melted so as soon as I plugged it in it started blowing and couldn’t be controlled as the button was stuck.
Upon my day of departure there was no locked room where I could leave my suitcases after I checked out, so I had to carry two suitcases all the rest of the day through the streets of Venice with all its bridges and stairs!
The place is cheap, but you shouldn’t expect much if you book a stay here.
