The facility looked impressive and pretty but the closer one looked, the more it was clear that it wasn‘t all in the best shape. I was certain that I booked my stay including breakfast but they charged us again at check out. Additionally, i received an online bill before check out that an open payment of 12,95(or similar) was open for the breakfast but at checkout they charged us double that price. All in all it left an bitter aftertaste with me even though the area around the hotel was gorgeous.

This hotel has a beautiful location . The room was lovely and very clean. Staff were fabulous in particular the receptionist. The only down fall was the waiting time for food in the restaurant, the food itself was lovely . Would also be nice if there was a separate dining area for families , as felt a little under pressure when dining with kids

Amazing country estate. Absolutely beautiful. Front desk staff were helping elsewhere when we arrived so little delay checking in and out. Otherwise unbelievable stay.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful, the location was perfect, the service was amazing and staff were very friendly and we will definitely be returning in the near future. thank you to everybody who made our stay welcoming and comfortable :)

Ok, but not what it proports to be
Hotel is nice but it’s trying a bit hard to be something it isn’t. lots of lovely seating areas but nowhere in the morning to get a coffee outside of the breakfast room. food was average. you can’t just turn up for breakfast, you must book a slit. fine, but when you turn up at that time they still aren’t ready and tables/food were scarce. Not a terrible hotel, but certainly shouldn’t be £150+ a night out of season

Great service, location and food!
Highly recommend The Bartley Lodge. All the staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Great location, comfortable rooms, and the pool was an added bonus. I was most impressed with the food, Christmas dinner and breakfast were both excellent. I hope to be back and will be recommending this hotel.

Waited hour 10 minutes fir cooked breakfast. Time we got it all the other breakfast offers were tidied up therefore unable to get fruit juice or toast to accompany the breakfast. Run out of the salmon as offered in the menu for the bagels Servers were miserable never smiled Very expensive bar drinks and a drainage system that banged with trapped air all nite in the toilet wasn’t very pleasant stay.

Avoid paying for breakfast as service from staff isn’t great, you constantly have to ask for either cutlery, plates as nothing is monitored so when it’s run out you need to ask for replacement. We had only just finished yet the guy was in such a rush to get dirty plates it was like a seagull was in the room. So rather than the attention be on when people have finished more attention should go into what they are serving or lack of it.

Almost!!
Great room and lovely property. Just need more staff and the food didn't meet the quality expected from the prices. Staff were really nice and breakfast was nice (just craved for a hash brown). Could be a great place but a few things like the changing room at the pool, no air con, offered room service but told 'too busy' and poor communication in restaurant keeps it a 'nice'!

I stayed here for £152 and got the standard room, it was very disappointing as the room did not anything like the photos online , and the light was hanging off the ceiling , carpets were old and dirty , furniture was dated and bathroom was old and not great. I spoke to the manager and they weren’t very helpful at all. The breakfast was nice , but the room was not nice as all, and was not worth £152, I would recommend staying elsewhere.

Booked this venue as it was only 30 minute drive to Southampton where I was working the next day. Nice reception from staff and directed to room 6. This was a room with a double bed. There was a desk in the room but there was not enough space between the desk and the end of the bed to sit on the stool provided. Shower was small (you would not be able to bend over to reach shampoo/soap, without opening door). Bed was comfortable and pillows were lovely. There was a gap between the door and the frame so at night the corridor light came through. There was no hot water in the hand basin on the day I stayed - I could not inform staff as there was no one on reception when I left.

Fantastic stay and excellent staff
The hotel was lovely and the room was nice, but what really made our stay was the service. All the staff we encountered were really helpful. The newly appointed manager, Will, went over and above to make sure all of our needs were met. He made sure that we had a lovely stay and was really very accommodating. The night attendant, Kylie, is also worth a mention as she was so helpful in the morning, serving us tea and coffee before breakfast actually started, even though it wasn't actually her job! Thank you again to all the staff at Bartley Lodge - we will definitely be coming again!

The location is convenient and grounds very nice. The building is clean, but you can tell it’s a bit tired around the edges. Has has had some money spent in areas to improve it, but needs a little more to improve the overall feel. Great pool and this was a definite highlight. Didn’t find the reception staff to be friendly, and they seemed fairly disorganised.

Nice room & very comfortable bed. Booked restaurant when we arrived but no record of it when we went down. Food was ok but we had to ask a few times for the bottle of wine we had ordered, finally got after starters just as mains arrived.

Lovely stay
Lovely stay in this picturesque setting. Staff were accommodating and friendly- they were short staffed, but did all they could to look after us. Clean, warm pool area- not for lengths, but nice for a dip and perfect for children. Lovely terrace gardens for evening drinks in the sunshine too.

Poor nights sleep
The room (48) was on the top floor and baking hot, even with the window open and 3 fans blowing. Considering the rating and the cost this room was far below par. The double bed, which was actually 2 singles pushed together was extremely uncomfortable, we could feel the springs of the bed. The whole reason for staying in hotels is to sleep and we couldn’t do that one thing, it’s such a shame as the building and location is beautiful but not enough attention has been paid to the guest’s comfort.

No mini fridge, poor water hygiene & uncomfortable
We had to get drinking water from reception, which came in glass bottles that had a lot of limescale in it and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned on the inside. Lack of mini to fridge we couldn’t keep baby’s food long. We had ask for a double bed but it was two twins put together with an inch gap developing over night so couldn’t get the middle of the bed.

Food is the worst I’ve ever experienced at a hotel. Menu very limited. Other quests were ordering take away deliveries cos the food was so poor.
