Farm stay
Orlando and his family are such a beautiful hearted family. The animal experience and getting to know how the farm is worked was great. The class on how to make cheese, empanadas,bread and tortillas by Yolanda was amazing. We enjoyed so much that we cooked all day. The laughs will be remembered for life. Thank ypu for such a great visit!

Amazing farm
The family is so friendly! They greeted us upon our arrival even though it was raining really hard. The cabin we stayed in was perfect. It had everything you need and it was super private. The view from the bed was a $1M view. You could actually see the ocean from the top of the mountain. And you have to do the tour of the farm. It was absolutely worth it. What an amazing family and such rich heritage. I highly recommend. And super close to a cool town.

Night time rain and big wind!
The weather was changeable. Absolutely amazing views. We could see the ocean! Also parrots, raptors, songbirds. House as described. Host is welcoming and kind. Access to cloud forest, hummingbird gallery, orchid garden, local brewery. Only issue was complete lack of hot or even warm water.

Perfect getaway!
We absolutely loved our stay on the farm! The host family, who own the farm this little cabin is on, are absolutely wonderful! We took a little stroll on our last morning and visited the operational part of the small farm to visit the baby calves. We didn't get to do any of the farm tours on our short stay but heard great things about them. The cabin is cute and cozy, but not cramped and well set up, with a handy little kitchenette and a big porch. But what really makes this little getaway spot exceptional is THE VIEW!!! The cabin has a giant sliding door as most of the valley facing wall, so you can just marvel at the scenery any time you are in, but we really enjoyed just sitting out on the porch. So much so we just took dinner home one night and sat to watch the sunset. Do note this location is a bit out of town, so you will need to have a car and be comfortable driving country roads if you want to get around during your stay. But if so, this place is a hidden gem and great value. It was one of the highlights of our trip!

Beautiful view
Wonderful stay on the farm. Orlando is super nice and there was a lot to see on the property as far as animals. Be sure to get there before sunset because it’s fantastic. Very close to town and easy to find. Only negatives were lack of warm water and coffee maker was broken, but there were 3 other ways to make coffee ! Definitely exceeded my expectations.

This stay is rural and serene. My significant other and I stayed at the farm for two nights. The view is spectacular especially during sunset time. We also did all three activities offered: Night hike with Bruce, Cooking with Carolina, and Farm tour with Orlando. The Vargas family is hospitable, kind, and generous. Highly recommend for a unique stay with attentive and humble hosts in the beautiful Monteverde!

A restful Stay in the Mountains
Well located cabin on the side of a mountain with beautiful views. We met Orlando (who speaks perfect English) and walked around the farm. It's very close to the Monteverde Brewery which has great beer and a nice menu.

Another beautiful view!
This cabin was cozy, private, and included all we needed to experience the real Monteverde. The patio was just what was described with such a beautiful view of the hillside even to the bay. Orlando and family were always available to answer any questions or help. We were there for two short days to hike El Tigre Waterfall’s. The cabin was about a fifteen minute drive from Santa Elena which is a super cool town with shops and restaurants. I would absolutely stay align at this location in the future.

Perfect sunsets from Los Tornos
EN - Orlando and his family provided a great place for my father and I to enjoy a few days in the Santa Elena / Monteverde region. This property is 4 miles from Santa Elena’s town center, 5.6 miles from Monteverde’s town center, and 5 miles from Sky Adventures Monteverde Park. The cabin has a single bed (my father took the bed, and I took the floor), private shower, mini-fridge, and an amazing deck to catch sunsets and distant views of the Gulf of Nicoya. Each evening when Mr. Orlando (Orlando’s father) would tend to milking duties, we were able to see the cows in the holding pen while they waited their turn. A great place to experience nature. ES- Orlando y su familia brindaron un excelente lugar para que mi padre y yo disfrutáramos de unos días en la región de Santa Elena / Monteverde. Esta propiedad se encuentra a 6.6 km del centro de la ciudad de Santa Elena, a 9.1 km del centro de la ciudad de Monteverde y a 8 km del parque Sky Adventures Monteverde. La cabaña tiene una cama individual (mi padre tomó la cama y yo tomé el piso), ducha privada, mini-refrigerador y una terraza increíble para ver las puestas de sol y las vistas lejanas del Golfo de Nicoya. Cada noche, cuando el Sr. Orlando (el padre de Orlando) se ocupaba de las tareas de ordeño, podíamos ver las vacas en el corral de espera mientras esperaban su turno. Un gran lugar para conectarse con la naturaleza.

Cute cabin with a beautiful view! This was just what i wanted. An authentic experience! Orlando and carolina were great! Very freindly and helpful! And dont miss the tours they are wonderful. It was great to see a small family run farm doing things the way it should be done!

Paradise Indeed
The sunsets from the front deck are unbelievable. The family couldn't be nicer. The farm animals are adorable. A perfect, affordable respite during your time in the Santa Elena region.

A lovely farm stay
We stayed in Orlando’s place for two days on January. Everything is perfect. The view at the cabin is amazing. You must wake up in the morning and watch all kinds of beautiful birds passing by. We actually watched more birds in the balcony than within the national preserve. You need a high clearance vehicle to drive on the dirt road in Vargas Calle.

Completely private retreat - priceless
We were looking for a private retreat and found it and so much more! We would wake up while sitting on a patio watching hummingbirds and toucanets while drinking coffee brewed in a chorreador. Owners super friendly dog Lucy would visit us for pets. We loved having the full view of the valley from the cabin. Coming back at night we would watch the sunset. The owner took us on a night tour and we learned a lot about the ants! Also saw armadillo and owl! We had the yummiest milk from their farm. At night the amount of stars we could see was incredible. The cabin itself was simple but had everything we needed. Being in a place that offered a completely private retreat was priceless.

Gorgeous rural setting. Nice little cabin. Friendly owner and dog Lucy. Very difficult to find and access; must use google or waze. The roads are rough, which is why it's unspoiled and uncrowded.

Paradise Farm
We really enjoyed our peaceful stay at the Vargas Farm. The view from the deck was amazing. The sunsets and rainbows were magical. We saw many birds. The cabin kitty was friendly. The cooking class, farm tour and night walk were awesome. We learned a lot. We really really appreciate Orlando’s efforts to change to pesticide free farming. Yolanda is a fabulous cook/baker. Such an amazing place & experience.

Very late arrival not as planned,
We totally enjoyed our stay! The food was delicious! Your family was very friendly! If I ever come back to the area I will definitely stay here again. The roads are rough so make sure you have a 4x4 to get around.

Cozy cabin with amazing view and beautiful sunsets!
We enjoyed so much our stay in the farm. The view from the patio was impressive! There are sliding glass doors and you can enjoy the view even from the bed. So romantic place for a couple! Hosts are very nice and we are so thankfull for the dinner and breakfast! It was delicious!!

Quaint farm with beautiful view
Orlando and his family we're hospitable hosts. The farm tour, chance to make fresh cheese, and homemade dinner we're excellent. The view from both casa #1 and casa #2 we're amazing. We stayed in casa #2 and enjoyed the solitude. The shower water was only luke-warm, but it still did the job. Would recommend to others who are looking for a look into real-life living in Costa Rica and enjoy some solitude.

Lovely stay, especially for kids
We had a lovely time here. The house is in a great location, near to Monteverde but definitely not touristy. Orlando is a great host and our daughter absolutely loved milking the cows and playing with the dog. It was also lovely to have milk straight from the cow! Thank you very much for a lovely stay. Oh, also the view from the front of the house is amazing, we spent hours just watching birds including toucans flying past our front door!
