This did not feel like a 5 star resort at all. Staff was significantly lacking or poorly trained in many areas. There were long lines at bars, little to no poolside service. We had several issues in our 2 rooms including power going out multiple times a day, broken toilet, broken fixtures, not having towels/washcloths, and needing to request these items to be fixed or repaired multiple times. While these issues were ultimately addressed, it often took hours and even days to address them. Not much was done to make the experience enjoyable. We were meant to celebrate two birthdays, and an anniversary, and response was lacking. Several nights birthday celebrations were forgotten or not honored as requested. Again, these were ultimately addressed late in the trip, but the frustration carried through the experience of the whole trip. I want to name one staff personally, Fabio, at the front desk/concierge at Aquamarine. Not only was he polite and patient with us as we vented and expressed our frustrations, but he followed through on promises to improve the experience. Specific examples included making sure that we had a new room, offering us some complementary items, and ensuring that on our final night, the birthdays were addressed with a tasty full size cake. We have traveled with Bahia before and after a previous experience that had issues, we were using this to determine our future likelihood of using Bahia (at any location) again. We remain skeptical.
