At der står at der er tennis, Miniclub og beautycenter på hotellet er en joke… tennisbanen har ikke været en tennisbane i hvad der ligner 10 år. Der er myrer over alt på værelserne og drikkevare ved buffeten skulle drikkes af plastikkrus - meget miljøvenligt i disse klimatider.

Nedslidt og med dårlig beliggenhed
På overfladen virker det til at være et super hotel med pool og egen tennisbane. Men når man ankommer, finder man hurtigt ud af at det er meget nedslidt. Udsigten er til "den forkerte side" hvor man kun kan ane lidt af Positano. Morgenmadsbuffeten er næsten ok, men betjeningen var sur og uinteresseret i arbejdet og gæsterne. Badehætte var obligatorisk i poolen, også for skaldede mænd (!?!)- Mange indvendige trapper hvilket gør det uegnet for gangbesværede. Ikke et holte vi kan anbefale.

Smuk beliggenhed
Meget fin service i restauranten og i øvrigt udmærket restaurant og køkken. Meget smuk beliggenhed højt i Positano med udsigten til havet. Tennisbane og svimmngpool på hotellet.

This property is so dated, and service was not what we expected based on reading other reviews. We were definitely disappointed in the lack of amenities and would unfortunately look for somewhere else to try the next time we’re in Positano.

The over all stay here was good and we both enjoyed our room, most staff were very friendly and helpful with the exception of one. Disappointed that the pool and tennis facilities were not available.

This hotel is set up up on the hill and away from the craziness of the port. Be prepared to pay 10 Euros per bag to a porter service to get your bags up to the hotel, and about 25-30 Euros for a taxi to get you there (they won't take the bags). However, the hotel is fabulous. The staff is lovely and extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet is delicious and plentiful with fresh smoked salmon, meats, cheeses, eggs, coffee, pastries, etc. We also had lunch in the restaurant and had the most awesome fresh seared tuna salad. The room has a fabulous view of the port and ocean. The pool area is also quite pretty. The room was a very nice size and had a comfortable bed, a safe, and a very updated and modern bathroom. We would highly recommend this property!

Close to the bus stop från Sorrento, so perfect when you have heavy suitcases. Wonderful view from the balcony and nice tidy room. Got to the restaurang too late one evening and even than they got us something to eat, so really serviceminded personal.

First thing I noticed was we had help getting our luggage to our room. Amazing friendly staff, was my first time in Positano, the town is gorgeous I would stay here again. No complaints of the hotel. 5 stars

I had so many doubts after reading all bad reviews that I almost cancelled the reservation. So glad I didn’t! The hotel had probably the most stunning views in whole Positano. It is up the hill so you must climb 1000 stairs to get there from the center of the town, however, Positano is all about stairs! I cant believe so many people gave a bad review just for the stairs. You can get a bus which is around the corner of the Hotel or work on your leg muscles and climb these stairs! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Can’t comment on food too much because we were having meals outside, just had breakfast, which was very good. The room was spacious, separate bedroom, living area, and of course THE VIEW! It could do with some renovating or at least changing the foldable bed covers as they were very worn out, but it didnt bother us. Its was a bit of old fashioned design and furniture, but oh well, everything was clean, bed was comfortable, shower worked great. I would definitely book the hotel again if I am coming back to Positano!

Hotel staff was very kind, especially the bartender. We would have liked the pool to be open as it wasn’t specified as closed when we booked it. Also be aware that there are a ton of stairs to get to the hotel. Unless you book a car, walking will be a pain, so either be okay with a taxi or be in decent shape. They also don’t provide beach towels nor want you to take the bathroom ones understandably. Would’ve liked to be able to have beach towels at the price. Overalll worked for us, but if you have the money may be worth it to stay somewhere closer.

This property was wonderful! The staff was so friendly and great. The location is very good, for its price. Positano is a city of steps. They have a short cut of 400 steps to town, which honestly is much better than the other route. I was so upset reading the comments after booking this hotel, please rest assure it is a good accommodation. It was clean. No bed bugs such as others have posted. It’s not a ritz Carlton, but for the price compared to the other hotels this is a nice choice of a hotel.

The staff was absolutely kind, welcoming, and helpful. The hotel conditions reveal their former glory days. So expect a dated property. Our room had a bit of a wet dirty humid sent when we arrived but had an incredible balcony view of Positano and that beautiful mediterranean ocean. That also meant we were really high up in the mountain side so be prepared to walk a lot up and down or get a taxi. Be prepared to add that to your budget for a taxi ($30 each way).

The staff are wonderful and helpful. The property is dated but it is clean. My main concern is that the price was too much for how ugly the hotel is in appearance. I know it can only get that price based on its locale. I just hope they revitalize the interior. Also the A/C barely works but I expect thats on par for Amalfi Coast.

Biggest pool we ever saw; well handled. -too many rules at the pool (only one entry/exit) can't sit on the edge, no food at our chairs, inconsistent music at the pool. It could stay open longer too. Loved the singer on the terrace and 24 hr staff. Breakfast was terrific! So many options.

Our visit at the Royal Hotel Positano was perfect! Staff was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. We loved our experience. The reason for 4 stars is that it’s an older property and difficult to navigate.

So i have been waiting to write this review. Before we went we saw all the negative reviews here and was kinda nervous to arrive to a room full.of bed bugs and bad staff and mold smell. I have NO IDEA what those people were reviewing. Our room was very clean, yes fixtures are dated but thats Positano. The bed had no bed bugs or no bugs in the room in general. Pool was VERY nice me and my wife dipped in like 4 times. The only downside is the 400 stairs to get to the hotel. But they do offer a luggage trolley at the port to bring your bags there $10 /per. So nayone reading the negative reviews. We stayed in room 901 and it was greatm yes a little bit of a maze the 1st time you come in but once you know where to go very easy to get around. Would absolutely stay again

A little disappointed
To pay what we paid for 1 room was not worth what you got. You can stay at a Hilton for much less! I understand positano is inflated but the restaurant food was terrible breakfast was mediocre at best! The girl at the front desk was not hospitable! They gave us a room that was lower than we paid for! The one breakfast the staff was fighting probably because they are all over worked. The hotel is dated needs upgrades and improvements. Would not stay here again. Pictures don’t match to what is actual

The fairly young staff was absolutely amazing and tried their best to assist and accommodate. The hotel appears to be in need of some serious renovations and extremely understaffed. The same crew worked all the snack bars and dining rooms for all meal services and the pool snack bar. The hotel is extremely outdated. No coffee or kettles in rooms. Folding chairs in rooms for furniture. A derelict Tran is court over grown with moss and missing fencing which could result from a drop down a cliff. The elevator seemed like something out of a horror movie. The hotel has so much potential but a few million dollars in renovations are needed. There is no transportation at the hotel. The rooms also had a strong “damp” smell.

I would not recommend this hotel if you are staying in Positano. The hotel is overall old and outdated for the price. Our room had a beautiful view but was dirty. There was dust on our lampshades, ants in our room, and hair in our bathroom and floor that was not ours. Our room in general was outdated as well. The hotel is far out from the main town and you will have to take local transportation to save yourself from walking. When I told the front desk of my complaints on the room they did not do anything and said I should have complained earlier in my stay.

Restaurant on site was empty yet it doesnt allow diners on Terrance with a better view. Jackets are required for an empty Restaurant. No nearby restaurants and room is dated.

Property not as advertised. Non functioning pool, and there is no piano bar; it is an electric keyboard in the cafeteria. Excessive noise at night from the restaurant, and in the morning from cleaning staff. Phone in the room also did not work. The reception staff was combative when filing complaints. We left a night early. When asking for a discount due to the poor conditions, we were told by staff that no accommodations could be made and to speak with Expedia. I filed a complaint with Expedia and they also were “unable” to address our concerns. Do not recommend.

The pictures of this hotel we’re very deceptive. Our room was really dingy and we had to change it. Even the new room that they gave us had a masti strong smell. It had a decent view. The restaurant is not that great, but had a fantastic view from the patio. I would not stay here again.

The property has rooms with balconies that overlook the entire town and give wonderful views of the ocean. The staff was courteous and did their jobs well. The restaurant has a great breakfast buffet, and the restaurant staff treated us very well. However, the property is quite run down and old and there are several reasons we would not recommend this hotel. In order to get to our room we had to take two elevators, with a flight of stairs and a long walk down a corridor between them; the flight of stairs consistently smelled like sewage. The elevators were also tiny, old and rickety. There wasn't even a coffee machine in the room. There was Wifi, but it was the worst WiFi I have ever experienced at a hotel in recent years. Speeds were low, and it would randomly not load even the simplest of websites. We got a better Internet experience by stepping out of the hotel and using our data roaming connections.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL The staff and service are terrible. We had a major medical emergency and the hotel refused any assistance. We had to cancel our stay but the hotel demanded full payment for all days. The hotel offered no accommodation whatsoever.
