"I love the interiors of this hotel. A mix of modern and traditional design. It is quiet, you hardly see people around (which I like), yet the staff are there whenever you need them. Our room and the hotel in general is immaculate. This hotel also has an in-house bath and sauna at an additional cost. You can reserve these amenities at the reception. It was a great way to end the day after walking around sightseeing all day."

"The location of the hotel was perfect for our stay in Kyoto this fall. Walking distance to so many temples, gardens, steps from the Geisha district, shopping & restaurants. The pictures I saw on google maps of the street and immediate surroundings looked a little iffy, but it was just fine, and very quiet. The hotel was absolutely spotless and very comfortable; the staff fabulous, and the small restaurant well run with a very decent breakfast at a reasonable price. It is also only a short block...

"The staff, service and food were exceptional. The location was perfect for what we wanted out of a four night stay in Kyoto. But, it was the staff that made the experience memorable. Some of the key spots are just around the corner from the hotel. Given the crowds during the day, it was easy to see them early in the morning or after dinner when the crowds were much smaller. If you are looking for the perfect atmosphere from a traditional small Japanese Ryoken then look no further!"

"Hotel Alza is an absolute gem. It has the feel of a quiet traditional place which it is. It is much more. New and clean and upscale with every modern amenity. The staff are absolutely dedicated to excellent service and friendliness. They may tell you they don't have a buffet breakfast only bento box. However, this breakfast served in your room or downstairs is fantastic."
