Pro’s:
- huge house with plenty of space in the kitchen, areas to eat for everyone and great bedroom sizes. Worked great for multiple families due to rooms with 2 double beds and the bunk room.
- play zone: ping pong (however, the paddles were in shambles and need to be replaced), air hockey that converted to a mini pool table and/or bowling table; lots of games
Cons
- the place was tidy but not clean (chips spilled under the bathroom sink, food left in the gym area, bowls that must have been sitting for quite awhile under the cabinets that were dirty and 2 with dead bugs in them, stains on the dining room chairs, stains on bedding).
Suggestion: due to the floorboard heating, it was very dry in the basement. Humidifiers for the bedrooms down there would help.
A note on location: The Reserve sits on the backside of the mountain. if you are looking for exclusivity and privacy, this is it. However, if you are looking for quick access to the lodge, Avalanche Bay or an easy walk to ski-in/ski-out it is not (nor is any house in the Reserve other than the house closest to Kitz Cabin). If you have new skiers, the trail close to where Kitz Cabin drops into is on the side opposite of Boyneland, the beginner area, which made it tough to get kids to that area. Driving to the base is much easier than trying to traverse across with kiddos.
