I highly recommend the Puffin boat tour with Turus Mara on the island of Mull. If you are staying in Oban you can book at the ferry terminal which includes a ferry to Mull, shuttle across Mull to the harbour to meet the tour boat. Remember to pack a lunch. Words cannot describe the experience of having a few hours seeing these beautiful birds so close up and so many. The photo shows one looking up watching a seagull glide across the cliff top. There are also fulmars and razorbills. You will also be taken to Fingals Cave on the island of Staffa.
Peek a boo. Puffins on the Isle of Lunga. This is a magical trip. The puffins will just go about their business 2 feet away from you. They are fascinating and adorable to watch. It's a little tricky getting on to the island as it is totally wild so you will be dropped on to the rocks from the ferry. You need good shoes and balance! The tour company I used are called Staffa tours and they were great. Very helpful.
Crazy landing technique! If you are on the west coast of Scotland this is well worth the time and money. We booked with Turus Mara who are on the Isle of Mull. If in Oban you can book in the Calmac ferry terminal and for a few extra pounds you can book a package that includes Ferry to Mull, shuttle bus across the island to the harbour to meet the tour boat. It takes about an hour to reach Lunga where you will have a few hours to get up close to hundreds of Puffins. They are fantastic and not afraid, they just go about their business. If the time is right for their young to be in the burrows you can hear them calling out. My friend thought it was a grass strimmer. We were here June 16th which I think is the very beginning of the eggs hatching. This is also when you can see them with sand eels in their beaks. #BVSBlue
I encountered these cute and funny #birds on the Lunga island, #Scotland. The Atlantic puffins return to the coastal areas starting from April for breeding. They nest in clifftop colonies, digging a burrow in soft soil. The good thing is they are not afraid of humans at all. On the contrary they are aware that their predators, sea gulls, are afraid of humans, thus the puffins move freely when humans are around. So you can easily spend hours observing and admiring these little birds. #nature #springfun #animals
Puffins Galore We just returned from a boat tour from Oban, Scotland to the uninhabited island of Lunga. Well I say uninhabited, at least not people, but birds rule the place. We went to see Puffins and we saw hundreds and very close up. This trip exceeded my expectations at least trifold. We booked with Turus Mara, they operate from the Isle of Mull. Since we were in Oban they directed us to a tour service in the Oban ferry terminal who organised it all for us for a small extra fee. This made it extremely easy to book. Our ticket included the ferry from Oban to Mull, which was met by a clearly marked shuttle van which took us across the island to the tour boat. We were all dropped off on Lunga which requires you to scramble across large slippery rocks (if low tide they are wet and slippery) climb a moderately well marked steep hill and then be prepared to be amazed. Hundreds of Puffins line the top of a cliff right there. WOW! The tour also takes you to Staffa Island and Fingals Cave. Highly recommend this tour.

Tobermory og Roslyn House var skønt!
Det fungerede super nemt med koder til adgang. Lækker morgenmad til os i det lille køleskab og fin detalje med en honesty bar, hvor men selv kunne gå ud og købe ekstra drikkevarer. Virkelig lækkert og luksuriøst værelse, vi var helt vilde med tapetet og det rummelige badeværelse. Gode instruktioner ...

We stayed in ‘The Bothy’ at Artun. Mrs Cameron met us and made us feel welcome. The position of the Bothy was good for us as it was close to the loch and we saw an otter. We enjoyed the peaceful setting. Thank you.
