"Very nice small authentic ryokan with an outdoor public onsen. It's located 15 min walk from Shibu Onsen town, but close to the entrance to Monkey Park. There's a busstop right in front of the ryokan. The bus goes to the station and monkey park entrance and ski area. Very kind and serviceminded couple, who speak enough English to explain how it works. Good Japanese breakfast and dinner. Only coffee is in the vending machine outside. Only futons in the room. No chairs. No private bath or toilet...

Some English speaking staff, who were honestly the best we met in our two week stay in Japan. We were told that they don’t get many English-speaking visitors and we were the only ones there, which my teen son and I loved. We love immersing in the Japanese experience when visiting, and this hotel definitely offered this.

We ate breakfast and dinner at the ryokan and really enjoyed the food - meals are 7 courses and food quality is top notch. We would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in Yudanaka. They have a private onsen which we also booked so my husband and I could use the onsen together. "

"This is a lovely 'boutique hotel' in an absolutely beautiful part of the area north of Nakanojo near Lake Okushima. I wanted a truly Japanese place and I got it. Few, if any, 'foreigners' in the area. I was provided a bike and road around for 3 hours. The owner is a beautiful, kind lady and her and her staff treated me like a king. I had a room with a private hot spring pool - all I can say is "wow". If you want to see a place off the beaten track, I highly recommend this hotel."
