Nestle into this fresh new craftsman-style cottage when you visit Rock Hall. This is the perfect weekend getaway setup for up to three couples. Dragonfly Cottage has three spacious, well-appointed bedrooms (all with queen beds), two full bathrooms, and an open common area that includes a living room, dining area, and a well-equipped kitchen. One bedroom with adjoining bath is on the first floor. Laundry area is off that bedroom. The other two bedrooms are on the second floor with a shared bathroom and a small sitting area. This sparkling, light-filled house, constructed in 2024, has a fresh decor that blends vintage finds with contemporary furnishings. Works by local artists are throughout the house, and extra decorative touches include items from the hosts’ travels, such as Moroccan textiles. A large driveway offers ample parking, and there’s plenty of space in the back yard for cornhole or other games. (Let the host know if you’d like to use the cornhole game or frisbee baskets.) A backyard patio will be completed later in the summer.
Amenities: Keyless entry. Free WiFi, a wall-mounted smart TV, and Sonos speaker. Privacy / room-darkening window treatments in bedrooms. New high-quality bed linens and towels provided, along with shampoo and basic soaps. Kitchen and laundry soaps. Coffee and coffee maker. Microwave. Refrigerator/freezer with ice maker. Induction stove and electric oven. Dishwasher. Full set of dishes, glasses, cookware, and utensils. Paper towels and toilet paper provided. Occupant-controlled heat and AC.
At Dragonfly Cottage, you can kick back in comfort, relax on the front porch, or take an easy stroll to the waterfront, shops, and most restaurants. Sample old-fashioned small-town delights like an ice cream at Get the Scoop or coffee at Java Rock, or dine out at one of Rock Hall’s restaurants. Perhaps you’d also like to book a fishing charter, rent kayaks, or make plans to join the nightly sunset watch at the beach. (One thing everyone can agree on here: Rock Hall has exceptional sunsets.) Considering taking in a concert at The Mainstay, Rock Hall’s one-of-a-kind live music venue.
Special events during the year in Rock Hall include two triathlons (June and September), Watermen’s Weekend in June, the Fourth of July parade and fireworks, Pirates & Wenches Weekend in August, and Kent County’s Open Studios artist weekends in October. This cottage offers a perfect spot to cheer the triathletes on the home stretch of their run or view the Fourth of July fireworks over the harbor without having to compete for a parking spot. You are one block away from the harbor.
You can also explore the surrounding countryside and marvel at the natural beauty of this special place, so close to busy East Coast cities and yet so far away from it all. (How often do you encounter a town with just one flashing traffic light these days?) There’s something to savor in all seasons in this part of Maryland. We’re in the most agricultural county of Maryland. And here at the edge of the Chesapeake Bay, there are more scenic waterfront backdrops than you can shake a selfie stick at.
Less than a half hour away, Chestertown has many attractions, including the Tea Party re-enactment in June, Downrigging Weekend in the Fall, and a charming robust Farmer’s Market on Saturdays year-round.
Why the name Dragonfly Cottage? Dragonflies are abundant in this area, and indeed, you’re apt to see them zooming around the cottage grounds on a summer’s day. Spending time by the water, being colorful, and zooming in and out as needed is a pretty inviting lifestyle, isn’t it?
