"I have previously stayed at Hoxton hotels and have been impressed with their vibe and design. Our stay at the Hoxton Rome was a different experience. Prior to our arrival, we received an email from the hotel mentioning that they were hosting a festival that weekend but reassuring us that our stay would not be “overly impacted by the event”. This was untrue. The lobby and other ground floor areas were packed with people at all times and felt like a concert with very loud music and drunk people until late. In addition, the hotel made little distinction between hotel guests and festival participants. Even as a hotel guest, it was difficult to get into the hotel and you could not buy a drink at the bar without having to stand in line to buy a drink chip and getting your (expensive by Rome standards) drink served in a plastic cup. We got the clear impression that the hotel’s priorities were the festival and being trendy for locals and not assisting hotel guests. Had we been informed of the extent of the festival and how disruptive it would be, we would have cancelled our booking and stayed somewhere else. We will not be returning to the Hoxton Rome."
