"The Carte’s were extremely pleased with our stay for the 2025 Labor Day holiday. The house was amazing, clean and Phil was extremely helpful with answering our questions about the area. The best part of our trip was by far the wild horses and the seclusion of the Rusty Crab. We recommend booking a visit at this house and giving it a 10 out of 10!!!"

"The owner was extremely friendly and responsive. The location of the house was perfect- gorgeous views of the ocean, dunes and wild horses. Having a pool was also great for the entire family. This property had the perfect layout.We will be back!"

"We found a lot to love about Herbst Cottage! While the layout is a little unconventional (the huge master bedroom is the only direct route in and out of the house to the back decks and pool), the spaces were big enough for 10 people, and the places we were most interested in, which were the kitchen, backyard/pool, and beach access, were really great. Well equipped with the exception of broken dishwashers (both indoor and tiki bar were broken most of the week) and a leaking ice machine. Response...

"Very nice and the fact I could bring my doggies was the cherry on top. Very spacious and the kitchen is very well equiped, 2- Dishwashers was wonderful to have. "We really enjoyed our stay here! It was nice having so much space with all of the family. The kids enjoyed the pool and volleyball area. The house was clean and came with so much to do. Having the golf cart was amazing to drop the beach stuff off and the family. Sherrie was fabulous! We have never had a host to be so informative and communicative. She was very helpful and responded immediately. We highly recommend staying here and we will be staying again!!"

"Beautiful house, clean with all the essentials provided. It was a 2 min walk to beach access which was wonderful. The host provided beach essentials, bikes, etc. which made packing for the trip that much easier. I had a couple of questions since this was my first time booking through VRBO and the host was very quick to respond and wonderful to work with. Highly recommended. "

"Had a great time with family and friends! The house was very spacious and accommodating for multiple families with children. Very secluded and quiet. We did have to cut our trip short due to emergency evacuation order due to hurricane Erin. Overall we enjoyed our first few days and are considering making it a yearly trip to the same home! "

"The house was cleaner than most beach houses I have been too and it had a fantastic pool and hot tub. The rrooms were really nice and two had an adjoining bathroom. the owner provided a document that provided everything you would need to know about the house and the area. The beach was just down a dirt road that was only traveled by those on the road and the beach was never really crowded and it was very clean. Not great for finding sea shells or sharks teeth but no rocks or anything but soft...

"The room was perfect for us. Everything was clean and tidy. The walk to the ocean was very easy just up a couple steps to the deck and out to the dunes. Beautiful views from the deck closest to the beach. We are definitely planning another long weekend stay. Although we didn’t meet with the host because of our schedule differences, they were absolutely wonderful people. We talked to Carol Ann several times by phone and text. Thanks again for the wine and free breakfast. I recommend this rental...

"A great place to stay. Ocean very close to balcony. Only compliant was the elevator was not always working. Not a fancy condo but very well decorated and had everything you needed in the kitchen."

"Outer Banks er bare et hyggeligt område - og hotellet her er ganske fint beliggende. Det hele virker dog en anelse slidt - og man tjekker ind via en skærm, hvilket kan virke lidt forvirrende. Fint med fri parkering lige udenfor. Morgenmaden er virkelig ikke noget at skrive hjem om - der står en pose med "noget" i. Men stiller du ikke de store krav, er hotellet udemærket - og vi vil absolut ikke have noget imod at tage nogle flere overnatninger på dette hotel."
