Nice hotel with a beautiful backdrop in a quiet local neighborhood. The hotel is gated, so it feels safe, and there is plenty of parking. The staff was wonferful - always willing to help any way they could, however the desk is not staffed 24/7, so getting a hold of someone wasnt always possible. The room was spacious and well stocked, however not the most updated/new (coffee maker leaked water, microwave door stuck, ice cune tray was broken, sliding glass door to patio was very hard to open). The property had a lovely view and a nice infinity-style pool, however the other "amenities" were minimal. The gym was very small and some of the machines did not work, there was not an on-site spa as mentioned, and the hot tub and sauna were not working at the time. The only "extra" that was really available was the steam room type area. Overall, the location, view, and staff were lovely (very quiet area without much around - but there is a mercado, gas station, and a couple small local restaurants; not walkable. Ocean views walkable from hotel). The room was certainly sufficient but could use a few upgrades and the amenities were definately lacking compared to what was advertised. All that being said, our experience at Whale's Bay was good and we would stay there again - decent value for the money.

Dear Melissa,Thank you very much for your stay and for your feed-back - It was a pleasure to serve during your stay.Our reception work from 08h-00h and our available facilities open at 09h-22h.In fact we had a problem with the sauna and the jacuzi, which we are beeing solved as we are waiting for the replacement material from our suppliers. The gym all machines are working and are semi professional level but some is necessary to turn on.The pool was also available.We hope to have the chance to welcome you in a next stay.Thank you

Great place to stay. Not crowded like Ponta Delgada. Is in a residential area, with a 2 minute walk to the shoreline. Nice area to walk along shore, a small ocean bay with a swimming within a 10 minute walk. Stayed on the second floor, they advertise you dont have a ocean view, but ocean was viewable as well a shore line to the west. Very clean, modern and quiet.

Lovely place
It was a welcome site after traveling and having the flight cancelled. It was so nice , clean, and comfortable. I wish I could have stayed longer. The night desk person was so VERY helpful. He deserves a raise.

Lovely honeymoon stay
We spent part of our honeymoon trip at the Whales Bay apartment hotel and loved every moment! They even greeted us with special honeymoon decorations in our apartment. This is a lovely location to stay at if you’re looking for apartment style accommodations to be able to do your own cooking while enjoying hotel amenities. We will be back!

Great location nearby the ocean and great natural pool. Excellent Swimming pool in the hotel. Very clean and well equiped appartment. Nice shower. Nice staff. Probably a wonderful place for family with kids but not suited for friends or couple with no kids since walls are paper-thin and bedrooms are on the corridor, stairs and elevator side… 20 meters from the ocean but only a few appartments have an ocean view.

Hemos estado una semana. Los apartamentos son muy completos para una familia de cuatro personas. El personal es encantador. La limpieza adecuada. Si tu intención es tener un lugar en el que alojarte, y poder hacer alguna comida por tu cuenta, es un lugar excelente. Los servicios que ofrece el hotel son correctos para una actividad turística intensa. Las instalaciones son muy nuevas y agradables.

2 Bedroom apartment was fantastic for our family!
Beautiful hotel. Very clean and new/modern. Sadly, we were only able to stay for one night - we would have loved to stay longer. We stayed in 2 bedroom apartment, and it was perfect for us and our 3 grown up kids. The kitchen looked great, too bad we were there for so short. Super friendly, kind, efficient staff. Highly recommend! Teresa in reception was amazing! Thank you!

Bon séjour au calme
Hotel proche de la mer, d'ailleurs on se lève et se couche avec les bruits des vagues. Les chambres sont biens fournis en ustensiles de cuisine, serviettes, etc. Les chambres et les parties communes sont propres, ménage fait dans la chambre tous les 4 jours. Personnel discret mais disponible. La piscine est au milieu d'un beau jardin bien entretenu. L' hôtel peut vous vendre des provisions. Les seuls points négatifs c'est les viennoiseries qui sont commandées par l'hôtel, en effet il vous propose un livret avec des viennoiseries ou des pâtisseries à commander pour le lendemain. Nous avons testé une fois et depuis plus jamais, livré dans des sacs en plastiques de supermarché, la miche de pain manquait de cuisson, mie compacte quand aux croissants ce sont les pires que j'ai mangé au cours de nos voyages ils pesaient une tonne trop de mie, aucun feuilletage on avait l'impression de manger du pain de la veille acheté au supermarché, bref grosse déception de fournir ce genre de petit déjeuner pour un 4 étoiles. Second point lors de notre arrivée le premier jour, on sonne personne. On voit un numéro à contacter qu'on appelle et le jeune homme me dit qu'il nous avait envoyé un message pour nous demander d'arriver a 20h00 le soir!!! J'ai trouvé ça vraiment culotté la première fois que ça m'arrive je lui répond que nous n'avons reçu aucun mail et qu'il était 15h et avec 3 enfants ce n'était pas possible, quelqu'un nous a ouvert 20 minutes après vue notre mécontentement.

We are happy to know that you enjoyed the hotel location, the appartment, the Staff, The cleaning that was provided on 28Jul and 03 Aug ( 3 in 3 days) we always do our best to follow our clients needs and expectations. Your opinion is very important for us and weappreciate the client's reviews and comments. Regarding your negative points we would like to inform you the following: - Baker - the baker is an extra service that is not provided by the hotel because we are a self catering basis, we do not serve breakfast or other meals so it is not correct to say that it is served by us - it is provided by other company not by a 4 star hotel. We are surprised with the complaint regarding the baker products because , and according to the clients reviews, they enjoy it quite well and make alot of orders for bread, pastries, and brioche croissants ( as you know there is different types of croissants not just french croissants). - Due to covid 19 - we changed our schedule and we inform our clients ( upon reservation) regarding this situation and request for an arrival and departure time so we can coordenate the staff accordantly. we sent you a message truth Expedia on 23 July 2020 at 09h24 and on the same day at 09h28 we sent you another message with procedures for passangers arriving to Ponta Delgada and an attachment of our contengy plan which was read on 23 jul at 10h13. We are sorry if you miss this information this is the reason we would like to clarify, once more, with you. Once more that you for coming and you are always welcome!

We had a wonderful stay at Whales Bay apartments. The 2 bedroom unit was perfect for our family of 4 and had everything we needed, including a high chair and crib for our little one. The location was perfect, in a peaceful setting on the coast and within a short drive to most of the places we visited on the island. We loved it!

The hotel had all we needed to feel at home. We like to cook, and the apartment had a fully equipped kitchen with good quality utensils. The view from the balcony was spectacular, and we could cheerfully have lived there for a long time.. And the pool was great too..

Loved the view from balcony and the brightness of the unit. Didnt really cook but the kitcen amenities were good. A coffee table would have been nice. I would have liked to use the gym but the equipment wasn't very good and the room was uncomfortably hot

Dear Client Thank you for your stay and for your appreciation which we would like to coment as follows: - We have a table or a countner inside the apartment and also another small table in the balcony where you can have your meals inside and outside the apartment. - At the Gym there is only 1 machine ( mini gym) not available because we are waitying for a piece from our supplier to arrive - all the rest of the equipment is in good conditions and working 100% ( Elliptical, treadmill, bicycle). - The Gym has ventilation that can be switch on beside the lights by the client. we hope to have the chance to welcome you in a next visit.

Beautiful apartments. Only problem is that there is nothing around the area so you need a car. Also the north part of island much cooler than south side

Dear traveler, Thank you for your visit and for your review. Whalesbay is located in a calm area and aprox. 3 to 5 minutes drive you can find supermarkets, restaurants, banks,gas station etc. It is recommendable to have a car to move around and explore the island.

Definitely recommend!
Place was spotless you could smell cleaner everyday, grounds were immaculate, they were always cleaning. Room was amazing, view was spectacular, comfortable, had every amenity in the apartment ready to be lived in. Staff was friendly, kind, always helpful and accommodating. Loved every part of our stay!!

Pre-trip, very responsive by email, especially as we needed early check-in after an early morning arrival. Accommodations are clean, modern, and the mini kitchen well equipped. Amenities include outdoor pool, kids playroom. Surrounding town is small, but the main attraction is the beautiful seaside literally steps from the door. Fantastic stay, highly recommended!

Estuvimos mi mujer y mis tres hijos 10 días, encantados con el apartahotel,el trato y el sitio muy bonito y cerca de casi todo lo importante de visitar.La isla preciosa repetiría seguro!!!!
