The good: great price, good location, mostly well appointed self service unit. Looks like it is advertised. The bad: it was very hot in Paris, no A/C, one window, and it took a couple of requests and a full day to get a fan. There was no hot water in the kitchenette, so had to boil water to do dishes. There was no dishwashing liquid, and just an old sponge. There was only one cup and two butter knives (lots of other things though). The unit is accessed by three levels of steep, winding and narrow staircases. Seriously challenging to lug your suitcases up. The ugly: the building is undergoing extensive renovations, including the unit directly above. Jack hammers, table saws, routers, and other very noisy equipment, and men yelling to each other, going on all day, every day. Drywall dust everywhere. Neighbours were noisy until about 1 or 2 am. Didn’t sleep much. Also arrived to find the washing machine full of dirty towels and sheets and more dirty sheets on the floor. I had to do three loads of laundry and then hang them all over the place to dry just to be able to do laundry for myself. Also, because wet laundry had been sitting in the washer, it smelled very bad and I had to clean and air out the washing machine son I could use it. The bottom line: this place has promise but the hosts need to step it up a notch. Maybe spend a night there themselves to see what’s missing.
