We arrived in Paris on an overnight flight and paid extra to get in the apartment early. My kids were already asleep when I got an email (see below) at 2PM/7AM that our reservation had been cancelled! Confused, I contacted Checkmyguest, the management service whose number was in the apartment. The woman I spoke with said she we had to vacate the apartment immediately as the reservation had been cancelled and she could not give any more information. I asked to speak to a manager to which she responded no, "we don't do that in France". I asked her if she would find us a new apartment and she said our money would be refunded and we could find a hotel. She was beyond rude.I hung up in shock. I then got online and called VRBO.The person I spoke to was WONDERFUL. He called Checkmyguest and got in touch with the manager who reiterated what the first woman had said and then told us that if we weren't out of the apartment in the hour, he would call the police! The VRBO rep, along with my husband and I, started frantically looking for hotels while my kids packed up. About 20 minutes later, we got a call Checkmyguest who told us that there had been a booking mistake and a colleague had accidentally erased our booking. He was sorry.Our stay in the apartment ended up being lovely, even though the first night there was no AC and it was 90 degrees. We are reconsidering using VRBO for future international travel considering how easily we could have been without accomodations.
