Low standard
I have lodged on the Royal C before some 3 years ago. the first room we had was absolutely cramped and the ceiling was under maintenánce. The room seemed more like something from a cheap movie where the its being used for a hour of cheating. next morning I had the room swopped for another, which was more comfortable. the chinese cantonese restaurant in the hotels parking area is an absolute NO GO, on 2 occasions I had to throw the ood out, it was not mend for human consumption. actually I first had good food again when I went to Nairobi the next day.

Nice and comfortable stay
The stay was comfortable and the staff were cooperative. As it was in city area, i could able to visit our business related activity without delays.

Un hôtel historique,le seul bon hôtel à être ouvert en juillet 2022 dans le centre de Mombassa. Sa terrasse n’a pas changé depuis la construction de l’hôtel.Un hôtel mythique.

熱帯モンバサも朝夕は涼しいのだがホテルの部屋は灼熱地獄でクーラーは全く効いていない と言うかクーラーから熱風が あまりに暑いので裸で寝るしかないが裸でも眠れない暑さだった モンバサもホテルの部屋の暑さ以外はいかが 部屋の中の暑さは最悪

町中で便利、歴史的建造物の風格
長旅の途中で疲れをとるのに最適。なんといっても植民地時代の初期の建物なので風格があります。ここに着くとほっとします。８月４～６日、１０日と４泊しました。部屋は十分な広さがあり、落ち着けます。７日の朝は６時に出発と慌ただしかったのですが、頼むとちゃんと６時前に朝食を用意していただけました。１０日に泊まった部屋はトイレの便器から水漏れがあったのが、ちょっと残念でした。スタッフは皆フレンドリーで、テラスでの食事も美味しかったです。

Castle ruin
The Sentrim Castle Royal Hotel is an historic place in Mombasa. Unfortunately, as castle, is breaking in pieces, and for the royal, there is nothing remaining of what it could have been. I got a room in the five floor extension built without lift !!! but was kindly moved to the old building, with a lift, but where an exhausted AC heates more than cooles the room. One of the features of these old building or new extension rooms are their dirty walls, including spots of mosquitos the clients crushed, sometimes blood included. The furniture is old, the curtains are dusty. I only got one towel in my room, for all purposes, body, hands and floor. The cold water faucet was broken and the shower water jet got no pressure, just kind of dropping ... For unknown reasons the hotel stills holds two stars and I was charged 100 USD, a scam !!! I was also charged for a cappucino I got instead of my breakfast. It is not a consolation, but the staff was nice.

Renovation Needed
I stayed 4 nights. The room furniture was outdated and needs modernizing. The bathtub fixtures were rusted, in particular the grab bars. Not little specks of rust but full-on (90%) rusted out. Didn’t feel safe even touching them to get in and out the tub. Each morning the bathtub had 3-4 centipedes in it. Water pressure and temperature weren’t adequate. The room wasn’t cleaned daily as evidenced by the bathtub ring and wash basin residue. Pay more and stay someplace else. Very disappointed.

Much better visit than last time!
I think the room you get definitely impacts the success of your stay at this hotel. Even though the rooms are somewhat tired and in desperate need of renovating, the room at the back of the hotel was just what I needed after my exhaustive journey and for the conference calls I needed to make. The staff were lovely as always, and the food was great! If only the hotel was renovated and the lift fixed, it would be getting a complete 5 from me!!

Adequate for a short stay
Warm welcome and good service, but the room was basic and beds not very comfortable. Within walking distance to the old town and waterfront.

Very noisy road adjacent to bar and restaurant. Breakfast, very poor quality, greasy fried foods. Bar smells of cigarette smoke. Internet very slow. Bed very hard. Shower was good though.

Noise pollution .
Hotel was in town. Mombassa is very noisy and hot. It's impossible to sit in the restaurant which is adjacent to the main street and hear what people are saying. The hotel is built like a blast from the past but it needs refurbishing. It is such a shame. The noise pollution spoils the hotel setting.

Good
Royal castle hotel is one of the better hotels in Mombasa town and quite affordable and centrally located. Staff are friendly and helpful. The open air terrace in front of the hotel is pleasant to relax. I had some difficulties with internet access in my room, but was given another room later where it worked.

The desaster Hotel
If it wouldn't be because of the friendly staff, I would say that this is the worst hotel ever!! The hotel looks like a ruin, in a very bad shape. The room was noisy, smelly, dirty and very uncomfortable. The breakfast was a desaster as well. The staff is friendly but completely unorganized. Fortunately I've only spent one night in this desaster.

Klassiskt hotell
Vi bodde en natt på Castle Royal några dagar innan jul 2012. Hotellet är ett klassiskt kolonialhotell där man får ge avkall på lyx och flärd men istället får man karaktär och en historisk känsla. Hotellet är beläget nära de för Mombasa så karäktäristiska elefantbetarna och inte långt ifrån de gamla arabiska delarna och Fort Jesus. Hotellet har en kinarestaurang med godkänd mat. Frukosten var helt ok och frukostreataurangen med sin öppna patio mot gatan en upplevelse i sig. Vi hade rum mot baksidan men jag misstänker att det kan vara ganska hög ljudnivå i rummen mot gatan. Ett helt ok hotell med afrikanska mått.

OK if your expectations are low
Staff were not all versed in good customer service. Saying that some were better then others. Place has seen better days - mattress was foam so got very hot. Location is good as your in the middle of the city, and its easy to get in and out of. It was rated in rough guide as one of the best hotels in the city - so the others must be pretty terrible. But ok for 1 or 2 nights
