"We loved this hotel, and had a great 4 day stay in Kyoto. Very upscale and peaceful, in a quiet, non-touristy neighbourhood, with lots of convenient travel options. And we ended up in nearby underground jazz bar Zac Baran twice, as well as a tiny local restaurant about 15 minutes walk west, same side of street as hotel, called kawahigashi (it also says 'food and beverage' in English outside). We were the only people on a weeknight, with a single chef/server doing everything, and the food was...

"Great calm location away from the busy tourist areas of Kyoto, very charming area with nice little shops, places to eat and coffee to enjoy. Staff is very friendly and help, the cafe at the hotel itself is great and has friendly prices too, there’s great coffee available (you have to and it yourself) freely in the skate kitchen. There were only 2 pillows in the room, and when I ask for more the staff informed me there were none. At a hotel? No pillows? The room was clean enough, but not spotless.
