GROUNDS: Great escape from the heat with access to hiking, but the property feels rundown and understaffed. A few easy updates, like fire pits, s’mores kits, a desert garden, stargazing area, or hot tub, would go a long way. (Encouraging owners to make some updates and charge a resort fee-it would be worth it!)
ROOMS: Clean and partially renovated. Some updates look good, others feel cheap. Bathrooms are dated but functional, simple fixes would help.
RESTAURANT: Staff is great but stretched thin. The food is good but menu needs a refresh/overhaul. The space is beautiful, but long waits despite open tables. Needs more staff, especially during busy events.
CAFE: Also understaffed and limited. Front desk runs it, and the selection is sparse.
OVERALL: It’s like camping in a bare-bones hotel, but we’ll be back. I wouldn’t stay longer than one night as-is. With updates I could see spending more time here. If they had more here, they could charge a resort fee or increase prices and it would be worth it. For now I’d say the price is right for what they offer but it has so much potential, not only for the hotel to increase revenue but also for this to be a sought after destination as a summer escape and winter wonderland. It’s our only hotel on Mount Charleston and I just wish it had…more.
SUMMARY: It’s a clean place to sleep or grab a meal but I wouldn’t stay more than 1 night.
