"The staff are wonderful, both kind and efficient. The reception were helpful and made one feel so welcome on arrival. Getting there at night can be tricky as google maps is wrong while there are few signposts showing the way. The setting is fantastic and what a tranquil and relaxing place! Great place to see Nyungwe forest from."

"The setting of the hotel is superb – nice beach (the water has great mineral quality to it), different walks at the door step (Congo-Nile trail or lakeside paths, coffee washing station nearby is great to visit). The food is excellent (from the local vegetable and fruit garden) and rooms are spacious and well-maintained. The downsides are 11 km of dirt track in poor condition (allow extra 10-15 min relative to google maps estimate) and rooms can be too warm at night (24C at night, no aircon) "

"The Serena Hotel in Lake Kivu was lovely. We had a great room with a lake view. Since we traveled with a guide we did not use any of the extra guest services but we did take a boat ride out to the Nyamyumbo hot springs which was quite an experience. The opposite of a hotel spa! Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel!"

"This is a fantastic place. The facilities are a bit rustic, and there is no aircondition, but the service was amazing and personal, and the location in the midst of a lush garden on the coast of Lake Kivu was just fantastic. It is just a shame that there is no swimming in the lake - and no pool. There was a great atmosphere in the restaurant with a fire pit on the floor and a local music performance one evening. And something I never saw before: Running waiters!! "

"Le staff n'était pas d'une grande aide. Le petit-déjeuner n'était pas compris pour les 2 personnes de la chambre et la qualité laissait à désirer. Impossible de manger dans le jardin avec tous les animaux. Pas de vue sur le lac comme cela semble être indiqué. Je recommanderais uniquement cet endroit si vous souhaitez juste un endroit pour dormir, sans plus."
