Shipman Cove Beach...
2.5 miles from the end of the road to the cove. Great hike through a jungle that leads to a beach covered in lava. The hike then turns into a climb over lava, loose stone and boulders.
The cove is a nesting spot for Green Sea Turtles and passing Humpback Whales.

We had the cove to ourselves and these guys.

"A luxurious camping experience with running hot water, electricity, and use of a washer/dryer. Not many places to eat around and the closest "grocery store" is very expensive (12 for a gallon of milk). Make sure you plan ahead and bring mosquito repellent!! "

"7 days straight and absolutely 0 complaints. Well kept, clean, and quiet. Awesome neighborhood also surrounded by 10 acre farms. Can’t say enough….I didn’t know about a pool, but I am sure it’s as good as the everything g else so I gave it a 5 also."

"I spent 10 nights here in November. This is a very clean cottage, very well maintained. The owner/host is awesome and was in the area taking care of his other cottages so I spoke with him a couple times. He even stopped by and dropped off a new air fryer for me one day. Worked out great for fish and crabcakes from Pahoa. What’s incredible about this place is the location. It’s right in the middle of the red road along the south eastern cliffs of the big island. this is easily the closest...
