The Clarence did it's utmost to please me.
The Clarence is a really nice hotel, from the modern-medieval chandelier in the lobby to the service provided for even the tiniest things. I loved how they offered me a new room just because one of the five or six spotlights in the ceiling was broken. I preferred my original room, but I felt in very good hands with them. Despite being in the Temple Bar area they even managed to give me a room that was quiet, my view was not beautiful, but that is the price you pay for being able to sleep with no ruckus in that area. I would chose The Clarence again.

Central location, spacious room
Great location and a comfortable, spacious room. Didn't become friends with the shower (difficult to get the right temperature) but the rest was fine.

Godt Hotel med central beliggenhed.
Godt hotel med en god beliggenhed, selvom det er mit i Temble Bar området var der faktisk rimeligt stille på værelset om natten. Vi fik værelser med en balkon ind mod Temple Bar og det var et stort plus, at man sidde i solen og nyde tilværelsen.

I’m shocked that this place has such great reviews. The only plus about this place is that it’s in a great location and the staff was nice. The bathroom was filthy when we arrived. Dusty floor, and even sticky in some areas. The shower does not drain properly and you are standing in a foot of tub water while trying to get clean. There’s also no hotel room keys, but regular key and locks to enter each room and is difficult to unlock. They lock the front entrance at night so you have to hope that someone inside is paying attention to let you even in the building.

Please allow me to address the issues that you mention in your comments:All rooms are cleaned and thoroughly inspected by the accommodations manager, so this is something that is coming as a surprise. I will make sure to bring this up to his attention. Shower drains are serviced frequently so as to prevent clogs. My apologies if the drain got clogged during your stay. I trust that when you reported these issues to our staff in reception, they were promptly sorted. The main entrance is locked during certain hours indeed. Specifically at night time. We do this for security reasons to protect our guests, the property and the staff. Our reception is 24/7 with at least 2 staff per shift watching the door and paying attention to the door-bell. My apologies again if you had to wait longer than expected to get in.Kind regards,

We arrived super early from our flight and they were able to have our room ready a few hours before check-in. Very convenient location...access to everything.

I’d stayed here ten years previously in a standard room and really enjoyed it: going again all these years later I thought I would spend a bit more money and try a ‘deluxe’ room but what was offered was more like a cupboard with a view of a brick wall: I went down to reception and told them I wasn’t happy and the first room they offered me, they told me it was behind a pub and would be really noisy, I was finally offered a room at the back of the hotel that I accepted (I was told it would cost even more money for something on the other side of the hotel) which was ok apart from the drunken shouting I could hear every night at one in the morning, could also hear a lot of noise from people having parties in other rooms. Was impressed the first time but will look elsewhere next time I go to Dublin

I would have given 5 stars, however we were kept up the two nights we were there till 2am due to the thumping music from the pub next door. They were playing some amazing music though. The lobby was also super hot and we couldn't enjoy a drink at the bar because it was pushing 80 degrees.

The Clarence was lovely, and handy for everything. The service was excellent. Unfortunately, our room (315) backed onto Temple Bar and getting to sleep on Saturday night was a little difficult 😀

Great Nights Stay at The Clarence
We had one night in Dublin before travelling up to meet family in the north. The hotel and its staff were amazing from start to finish. We received an upgraded room and enjoyed a relaxing suite for the time we were there. Along with being able to check in early due to an early flight. Couldn’t have asked for any more. Will definitely stay here again when next over in Dublin.

The property was located in the heart of Temple Bar district which was very ideal. When we arrived, the staff was able to book us into a room before our check-in time which was much appreciated. The overall aesthetic of the property felt true to their online marketing -- fun, chic vibe. I was a bit disappointed in our room accommodations. We were told this was a upgrade, which I later learned was because of some design they recently completed in the bathroom. Our room was a corner unit that looked into a bare stairwell. I could care less about the view, but the room had a strange spatial configuration which made it really difficult to fit our luggage and have our luggage simultaneously open. Plus, the bathroom flooded every time we ran the shower. I think this was due to the glass not extending far enough beyond the showerhead and the curb or shower pan not gradating towards the drains. We were only there two nights, and by the time we had our first flooding experience, it only 36 hours until check-out so we decided to live with it during our time there. Lastly, the heating unit was not controllable from our room. We later learned that you had to call into the front desk and they would manually turn it off and on. After cooking our first night, we tried to call in the morning but couldn't find a phone to reach the reception. It was resolved after an in-person conversation. A minor disappointment given that splurgy expense to stay there and the high expectations going in.

The rooms go around a nightclub/entertainment area that is very loud- the beat literally vibrated the floor of our room from midnight until 315 am. It woke us up and we stayed awake until it closed. We were on the second floor so it may have been worse there but it was horrible.

The hotel is located right on temple bar area which was very convenient. The room was okay. Comfy bed but the bathroom was a little bit old and found some dirty spots here and there. Amenities were all there so that was good.

Tired hotel in a great location
There aren't many hotels i haven't stayed in in Dublin but the Clarence was one so i had cause to need a hotel for an overnight business trip and it was available and the typical Dublin exorbitant prices . Im not sure what i was expecting from a 4 * Hotel in Temple Bar but it was just ok , Its a little tired , Tv channels not working, lights without bulbs , 100 chips in the bath , shower curtains (my pet hate) Main Doors that would take you out into temple bar locked closed, charged me €50 security deposit ! all small things but I've stayed in better with a star or two less . Over €200 for a night with no breakfast . Maybe Bono and the Boys were too busy in Vegas to keep an eye on the hotel, Lets see what the new owners have in store ,

Staff are friendly and the location is excellent. However l, the walls in the rooms are paper thin though. I was awoken my first morning by the sound of the maid cleaning the bathroom of the room beside me, which was clearly in the other side of where my bed was situated in my room. Sounded like she was in my room. People walking down the hallway, talking, rolling their luggage sound like they are walking right through your room. Shower also leaked very badly.

The only problem was the shower leaked onto the floor each day. The bathroom sink hot and cold knobs were hard to turn on and off and the sink drained slowly. Otherwise we loved the hotel!

This was an elegant hotel and our suite extended the length of the front and oversaw the River Liffey. Luxury bed and living room. They serviced the room timely each day with nice thick white cotton towels sets and bath robes. The bar was excellent and professional bar tenders. Nice clientele staying here. Loved it.
