Very disappointing stay – not what you expect from a Marriott
From the very beginning, our experience at the Marriott Coronado was extremely disappointing.
Our room was not ready at check-in. When it finally was, we were told our suitcases would be delivered to the room. After 45 minutes of waiting, we went back to the front desk, only to be told that the bellboy had left and that we should take the luggage ourselves. This is completely unacceptable for a Marriott property.
The room itself felt cold and sterile, with no real amenities. Only disposable cups were provided, and aside from basic shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel, there was nothing else — not even something as simple as cotton swabs.
On the day of check-out, a staff member knocked on our door at 8:00 a.m., waking us up, to remind us it was our check-out day, even though check-out was at 11:00 a.m. Then she returned again at 10:30 a.m., repeatedly knocking and asking if we were leaving. It felt like harassment, especially since the hotel was practically empty and our credit card was already on file.
To top it all off, we were charged $10 for receiving an Amazon package on our behalf — something we have never experienced at any hotel before.
Overall, this stay felt more like a cheap motel charging by the hour than a Marriott-branded hotel. Extremely disappointing and certainly not worth the price.
