Nice hotel - good price

This used to be a go-to for us. But this was the last time. 1. We were told we could not access the pools without paying a resort fee. For the cost of $25 per person, per day, we went elsewhere to experience a larger water park for the same price. Yet, upon checkout we found that we had been billed for the resort usage (something we were told is only done when we opt to use the water park). 2. There was a forensic unit, a few sherif’s trucks and other police filling the parking lot one afternoon when we tried to come back to our hotel. 3. There was no hot water to the room for 3 hours one night, when we were trying to shower to head to dinner. They said they’d send an engineer immediately (we missed the dinner reservation while we waited 2 hours for the “engineer”). 4. They did not have enough staff running the front desk when we arrived the first day, so we waited 50 minutes in line just to check in. 5. Apparently this has now evolved into a low-income extended-stay location where people live. 6. We paid extra for a “luxury room”. Our luxury view was the highway. If we opened our curtains anyone walking to a hotel room could see into our hotel room and living room. Summary: no idea how it has earned 4 stars.
