En frygtelig skuffelse.
Wyndham Grand Athens er ikke et 5 stjernet hotel. Det er et nedslidt og beskidt hotel, som var en fæl skuffelse. Vores værelse var ikke klar ved indtjekning, da vi endelig fik dem var de beskidte. Beskidte gulve og et klamt badeværelse (se billeder). Gulvtæpper på gangene var fyldt med skidt. Ved morgenbuffeten tabte personalet rent bestik på gulvet, som derefter blev lagt på bordene. Hygiejne er åbenbart ikke-eksisterende. Vi har ad flere gange påpeget problemerne i recepetionen, alle beklager. Den ene gang blev der gjort rent igen, hvilket ikke kunne ses. Den anden gang kom rengøringen lige da vi var vendt hjem, sidst på eftersmagen, efter en udflugt. De blev afvist. Der er en kaotisk stemning ved morgenbuffetten, som understøttes af høj, irriterende musik. Da vi henvendte os i receptionenen med vores kritik, var vi bestemt ikke de eneste. Ved udtjekning blev vi opkrævet for et værelse, vi allerede havde betalt for, og måtte dokumentere betaling, før de troede på os. Hvis jeg skal fremhæve noget positivt, er det hotellets fantastiske udsigt til Akropolis. Ligesom Rooftop baren er hyggelig og upåklagelig.

Store værelser og lækker rooftop.
Pæne store værelser og badeværelser, faktisk fik vi en opgradering fra standart til excercutive. Første værelse vi fik kunne bruseren ikke slukkes helt, vandet løb næsten hele tiden. Derfor fik vi straks efter henvendelse en nyt værelse :) Flot rooftop med fantastisk udsigt bla til Akropolis. Hotellet ligger gode, restauranter i lige udenfor hotellet, men ellers 20 min gang til centrum. Personalet er venlige og hjælpsomme. Rengøring halter, der lå brugt mundbind i vindueskarmen, og da vi fik rent sengetøj på, var det meget plettet. Vi bad om at få det ordner hvilket straks blev gjort. Vores taxachauffør fortalte os at det var det bedste hotel i Athen.

“Ok” hotel + TERRIBLE experience when check-in
The hotel was ok in terms of its cleanliness and facilities, but location was nothing special and the front teens staff was not helpful. Our flight to Athens on the evening was canceled and moved to the next morning. When we eventually showed up our hotel had given our room away and we had to wait for several hours (despite the fact that we had in fact paid for the night before as well). Hotels.com support was NOT helpful either.

Alt i alt en god oplevelse
Hotellet har nogle meget fine faciliteter, og specielt den øverste etage med restaurant og poolområde er meget fint. Havde gode værelser værelser på 8. etage med udsigt til Akropolis. Ligger i et dårligt (utrygt) kvarter, men lige ved metrostation. Hotellet er derfor på mange punkter rigtig godt, men virker lidt ustruktureret ledet. Havde tre værelser i to nætter og fik sen checkout i to af dem.

personalet var søde, og hjælpsomme. værelset var okay. Poolen var alt for lille, der var kun 8-10 stole, og der var mange der gik forgæves, da der ikke var nogle solstole tilbage.Vi havde ½ pension, men maden var utrolig kedelig, der var næsten ikke noget udvalg af morgenmad, og aftensmaden pfff. tør kylling og overkogte grøntsager, vi kunne ikke vælge alt på menukortet.så det var også et ringe udvalg vi havde, så vi jublede når der var buffet, for så kunne man se maden før servering. Det er ikke hvad jeg forventer af et 5 stjernet hotel. men vi havde en god ferie trods alt.

Do not recommend this hotel
Hotel did not honor the Gold Membership. We should’ve had a free upgrade, if available. First they claimed they had no availability. We pointed out that the rooms were showing as available online to be booked. Then they said they would give us an upgrade if we would pay more. Some other critiques would be: 1. the water runs out of the shower in the bathroom 2. they ran out of towels to be used for the pool 3. we had expired coffee in the room 4. the complimentary wine bottle to be given for gold membership was a 187ml size bottle and looked old and dirty 5. We’d left our room at 10am with the please clean sign. When we returned just after 3pm to a still not cleaned room, we called reception and were told they would clean the room. After waiting about 25min and calling again we were told a cleaner would come by 5pm. After complaining, a cleaner came by and cleaned the room. 6. Bad quality of soundproofing. The room beside was having very loud (tons of screaming from a woman) sex next door, which was happening for much of the day and night for the duration of our stay. This hotel should not say they are a part of the Gold membership if they do not honor it. I hope hotels.com removes them from being able to say they offer Gold membership perks. It’s been a hard two years for the hotel industry but this hotel is well far off the Wyndham standard.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. My wife started getting little bumps on her body, which we assumed were mosquito bites. Turns out they were bed bugs which we found crawling around the mattress and wall. The staff barely acknowledged when we told them. They offered no compensation and no apology. Very disappointed given the money we spent.

Stayed here in May 2024. Looks great overall, has a excellent rooftop bar with Acropolis view and the room interiors are top notch as well. The only piece that was a bit of a challenge was the delay in room service activities. There were 2-3 instances where I felt the the support from the team was slower in getting us the things we needed (especially sugar and milk in the morning when we were getting late). Outside of this everything was great - special mention to Ionna who works at the reception who took the time out to give us a walkthrough of the things to do in the city. This was a very personal touch. FYI - Location is not as bad as people have claimed it to be. Yes a couple of blocks around were sketchy - but just make sure you are travelling via the right streets to get to Plaka or other neighborhoods.

The hotel is close to a metro stop which is very convenient. It is also next to a large traffic circle which can be loud at times. The windows do a nice job of dampening most of the noise. The neighborhood could be a little nicer but no real issues other than run down a bit with some abandoned buildings. Next to the hotel is a bread factory which was easy to get to for the AM latte and pastry. The room (suite) was spacious with robes, slippers and the bed & pillows were comfortable. The staff were helpful but we had limited interaction.

Two biggest problems with the hotel: Yes 1)it’s situated in a sketchy neighborhood. I didn’t feel safe on the street. 2) The door frame to my hotel room was broken. I would have to wiggle the door quite a bit just to get it to open properly. Aspects of the hotel were fine.

It is close to the area where the archeological sites, restaurants and shops are but the surrounding area of the hotel looks not taken care of. Not a nice walk from or back to the hotel. On the positive side, breakfast was delicious.

Bella struttura, in via di ristrutturazione il bel locale al piano panoramico destinato a prima colazione, stanze grandi (ho preso una stanza per tre persone, mi hanno dato una stanza matrimoniale, un bagno grande (ma senza bidè) e un'altra stanza grande con un divano letto), pulizia giornaliera, personale gentile. Il locale si trova di fronte al ristorante Mironi, dove si mangia molto bene, a prezzi modici e con musica greca dal vivo. Nella piazza adiacente c'è la metropolitana (bellissima, pulita ed efficientissima, un fiore all'occhiello per Atene) Non do il massimo perché la colazione, seppure abbondante, non è da 5 stelle in quanto la qualità del cibo è media e non servono il cappuccino e il caffe espresso, che si possono prendere solo alle macchinette (ma non sono gran che)

Hotel war okay, Zimmer geräumig und schöne Aussicht auf die Akropolis, leider defekte Lampe und Kaffeemaschine im Zimmer, aber hinnehmbar. Gesamthaft eher ein 4-Sterne Haus, nicht 5. Rezeption stets freundlich und hilfsbereit. Frühstück war Chaos-wenn nicht morgens um 7 Uhr als erste da waren nur wenige Tische gedeckt und Buffet oft nicht aufgefüllt, obwohl viele Servicekräfte da waren. Zimmerservice inkonsistent-mal gabs neue Handtücher, mal nicht, dafür wurde alles an eigener Kosmetik gefühlt wahllos sortiert und umgeräumt…Roomservice brauchte über eine Stunde und hatte dann keinen eigenen Kugelschreiber.. Umgebung okay, aber lieber mit Metro in Richtung Stadtkern fahren statt zu laufen.

I read reviews parking fee. Parking is 15 euros a day and they park your car down an elevator in the basement. So I took my car back to rental company easier to walk around than rent and use the car. Driving terrible in Athens and hard to find parking deck at hotel

It was very bad in terms of cleanliness. The mattress cover and bed sheets were’t clean. The bathroom is also bad, when you take a shower the whole bathroom stays wet until next day! The only good thing about the room was that it was spacious.
