Ampleforth: St Hilda. Much of this church dates from a rebuilding in 1868 by T H & F Hedley but parts go back to the 11th century. Part of a group of churches today, in the 19th century it was a Vicarage within the Liberty of St Peter (ie., adminstered by York Minster) and the Prebendary of Ampleforth was the patron of (ie., held the advowson, owned and obtained profit from the tithes, presented to) the living.

Nice old hotel
Really a nice old hotel with a great atmosphere. The room was fine for a British context. But when compared with hotels in Europe when the room was small and dark. The breakfast was only OK - had expected fresh bread and cheese. Enjoyed our stay close to the city.

Great hotel. Stayed here on a solo travel trip. Relaxing bar in the lobby and close to the main shopping/bar areas in York. Would stay here again.

Tranquil, clean and quiet.
The house was lovely, spacious, clean and well stocked with anything you might need. It is in a tranquil village and has plentiful off-road parking.
