"The location on the Akumal beach is fantastic and worth going for. The room - a penthouse - was lovely with amazing views and a private outdoor jacuzzi to watch the the local birds from. This is a big hotel with many guests meaning that some of the charm of the location fades when you move around the hotel facilities. Lots of food options, some very nice, some more moderate. The fine dining options vary in quality, mainly because the authenticity lack despite the effort and mouthwatering menus. We enjoyed the Mexican and the European restaurant the most. The grand buffet also had fine moments with freshly grilled gambas and lovely fruits for breakfast. The sushi bar by the pool was a disappointment. No taste in sushi rolls containing too much rice and too little fish. And what does cream cheese do in a sushiroll? I think management should ask themselves why they have a no reservation policy for sunbeds that is posted everywhere when they clearly don’t remove towels that some guests put out before sunrise?
