Fint sted
Fint overnatningsted ovenpå en pub. Stort værelse med god plads og elkedel. Badeværelset var knap så godt. Badet var svært at finde ud af for udlændinge som os. Det resulterede i et kogende varmt bad. Toilettet havde også svært med at skylle ud. Overnatningstedet ligger 1-2 km fra midtbyen. Personalet var meget venlig og imødekommende.

To nætter i York
Det tog ti minutter at gå ind til byen langs floden, så der var ingen parkeringsproblemer. Vi spiste morgenmad i byen og aftensmad på hotellet. York er en fantastisk by, hvor man kunne tilbringe lang tid. Hotellets placering er ideal.

A lovely pub with a lot of character in a great location to visit York . I booked a full English breakfast which was very nice and plentiful and well presented . The staff were very helpful and pleasant .

Wr had a wonderful time during our stay. Theblocation was convenient, the room was cozy, comfortable and clean. Things were quiet during the night for sleeping, and we were greated by the friendly staff each morning. We would highly recommend the Lighthorseman and would love to come back some day!

Gute Lage, Zentrum von York ist zu Fuss gut erreichbar. Das Hotel ist an einigen Stellen Renovierungsbedürftig. Parkplatz vor Ort vorhanden. Für eine Nacht eine gute Wahl für einen nicht übertriebenen Preis. Das Frühstück ist leider nicht im Preis inbegriffen, deswegen würde ich lieber woanders frühstücken.

Charming place, got quiet early in the evening, excellent service, only drawback was that the carpet floor of the upper floors were not very clean, though everything else seemed to be. Our apartment was spacious and suited for families.

Great location to explore York and within walkable distance. Service was excellent. Free parking with lots of spaces to choose from. Stayed 2 nights, and had breakfast on the second day which was excellent. Would recommend and happily stay again.

A good base just outside with an excuse to walk along the river into town (it not too flooded!). Called the prooerty about parking up about 1-2hrs early in their car park as had travelled quite far, and there are restrictions to parking so unclear if we were going to get a ticket for parking up early but someone responded and they ok'd and no issues. Room had really high ceilings and was nice, furnishings ok, the shower cubicle was small - so warning for anyone who isn't small or any intending on going 2-up in the shower because it's definately not an option in the room we had. Would stay again.

Loved it here! Great staff at every interaction, and our accommodation was MASSIVE for 5 people. We basically had our own apartment. Some furnishings were a bit dated, but in a charming way! Lovely place. Being above the bar meant for a great chance to socialize with people. Will recommend to everyone passing through, and will definitely be back.

Upgraded to a nicer room for free, with polite and helpful staff. Combined with good placement near the city centre, an excellent place to stay when visiting York.

Lovely classic pub with cheap affordable rooms!
Stayed for a couple of nights to view the beautiful city of York for the first time. With the room being so cheap at £50 a night and being in a pub I was sceptical if I had made the right choice, but it was money well spent! My room was located right above bar/main drinking area of the pub and the noise when it was busy was minimal and you could easily drift off to sleep with what you can hear. The Room & ensuite was clean and well presented. Compilatory tea/milk/sugar/biscuits, towels & soap/shower gel. The pub all in all is genuinely a beautiful classic inside and out, The customers where friendly and easy to talk too and staff where friendly and helpful. Now there is wear and tear like anything that is used consistently and also considering the pub was built in the 1870's but the price most certainly makes up for that! If you are looking for a cheap night stay in York this is pub to go too!

Very convenient location with parking. Interesting old pub building. Pleasant staff. Heating in room weird; the room radiator was cold but the bathroom towel rail was on full 24/7! Could have done with larger mugs in the room for tea. We did not have breakfast so can't comment on that.

Needed a cheap quick overnight stay. Extremely basic. Old. Noisy. It felt unsafe The lock on the door not adequate Building felt abandoned after hours Noisy from pub below Headache from fresh paint from pub reno below the room Radiator kept me up all night god knows if it needs bleeding but it was so noisy Pillow cases on bed stained Duvet cover stained I wish i hadnt booked this room. Worst place ive ever stayed. Isnt fit for purpose. Price for double room advertised as 50£ but somehow ive been invoiced and paid £55 I could have got a premier inn for less and been happy

Small room, no table for drinks tray and kettle only a mantelpiece from which kettle lead does not reach down to the plug socket so you have to boil the kettle on the floor. The room smells foisty and damp, and the walls and ceiling in the bathroom have numerous areas of furry black mould spores, as well as on the windows and frames. The extractor fan is blocked with clumps of fluff and shower head is dirty and has mould and hair on it. Even the tv remote is so old that all the button labels have worn off and the battery cover is missing, highlighting that this is more like being in a charitable hostel than a paying guest B&B because it is so poorly cleaned and maintained, of a very low quality and hygiene standard and thus hugely overpriced. During our stay the room was not cleaned nor towels replaced, evidenced by the peanuts and crumbs that were on the floor when we arrived and most probably still remain. If the rooms at the Lighthorseman were about £25 then they probably would be more realistic for someone on a really tight budget looking for a room only stay and prepared to accept somewhat unhygienic slightly cramped conditions as a trade off for the low price, but at £70 without breakfast or reasonable comfort as a B&B the Lighthorseman falls incredibly short to the point of actually being offensive and a rip off.

Our stay started of with a blocked unusable toilet. On further inspection the room was in a poor state one of our children shut the door to the bedroom to have the handle come off in his hand, bath surround was warped and broken, pull out bed was unusable as it was so hard and had lots of unknown stains on so my daughter ended up sleeping on the floor. The whole room just felt dirty and unclean wouldn't recommend to anyone, if we had not had pre-paid activities booked in York we would of gone home.

Lovely hotel.
Hotel was very well situated, only 10-15 walk to town centre. There was free parking. Our room was small, but comfortable. Could have done with a chair, but we only stayed 2 nights. Full length mirror we ease of access to sockets.

Staff super friendly and helpful, room was really clean (a little dated but excellent value for money) and warm (despite it being very cold out!). Nice touch having the travel plug/USB in the room. Great location - not as noisy as being central but still walking distance with easy access to river path for the morning walk! It's an older property so if you are a very light sleeper, take ear plugs. Would definitely stay again.

The room we had was ok for a weekend away. Only 10 minutes steady walk into the town centre. The staff were polite, the drinks in the bar were quite cheap. We both had a cooked breakfast at a cost of £12.50 each. It was ok but probably better to walk into town to M&S or similar for better food and cost. Overall, one of the cheaper places to stay and only 10 mins from town. If you want plush and fancy then you’ll be around £400 for 2 nights not the £250 we paid.
