"Lovely hotel with amazingly modern, yet traditional decor. Our family of 4 adults and 2 toddlers reserved two Kang rooms, which was a good size and comfortable for the kids to sleep in. Wonderful service, hotel arranged free transport to/from Pingyao Old City train station. Breakfast was great, with Chinese and Western options. Awesome location right on South Street (one of the main streets) and just around the corner from the ticket booth and Old City Wall. All around an amazing experience and...

"A true oasis in a busy tourist town. Amazing service, friendly staff, superb location... this beautifully designed boutique hotel is simply the best in Pingyao or even the entire province of Shanxi!"

"Wonderful hotel set in an ancient mansion. Staff were helpful and friendly and focused on improving the guest experience. Wonderful breakfast whether you ordered Western or Chinese. We ate the special set menu dinner. Definitely the best restaurant in Pingyao. Staff had a proficient level of English which enabled us to have a better experience visiting the historical sights in the walled city. Our two night stay was a five star experience."

"Très beau séjour en famille dans un hôtel typique à Pingyao. Très bel endroit dans la partie historique de Pingyao donc proche des zones à visiter. Literie un peu dure pour nos habitudes européennes mais ce n'était pas gênant du fait de la beauté du cadre."

"What a wonderful stay we had. Helen and her team could not have been more helpful. The pickup from the train and drop off was perfect, Helen helping us with our luggage. Sitting in the beautiful courtyard was a real pleasure. The rooms give you a complete taste of old china whist enjoying the lovely equipped bathroom, and comfortable authentic bed. Added to this the beautiful city of pingyao. Highly recommended the elsewhere hotel and pingyao. :) xx"

"The place is located at South Avenue within the ancient city, near to Pingyao South Gate, or 15min walking distance from Small South Gate (alternative, take buggy for 10yuan). The signage for Hongyuyuan hotel was not obvious, it is easier to find using address. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The place is an ancient building, do not expect perfect heating during winter. Food and massage are nearby, is very convenient. The hotel have an restaurant, the food is not bad"
