Originally built in 1940 and tastefully updated, this cottage is ideal for couples, friends, or small families looking for a laid-back island getaway with shared pool access.

Start your mornings on the screened-in porch, then gather in the bright, open living area with a plush sectional and cable TV for movie nights after the beach. The well-equipped kitchen offers plenty of counter space for easy meals, snacks, and vacation-worthy dinners, all surrounded by relaxed coastal décor.

At night, unwind in the spacious primary bedroom with a king bed, while guests can spread out in the second bedroom with three twin beds (twin beds + trundle). The shared bathroom features elegant tile floors and a walk-in shower.

Outside, enjoy a landscaped patio framed by tropical greenery—perfect for grilling and dining under the coastal sky. Whether you’re here for beach days, pool time, or a quiet Tybee recharge, Shirley Road Cottage makes it easy to settle in and stay awhile.

Shirley Road Cottage guests can enjoy the shared pool facilities at the Royal Palms Motel, conveniently located at 909 Butler Avenue. The pool operates from April 1st to October 31st, seven days a week, between 10 am and 5 pm. If your vacation rental necessitates driving to the pool, on-street metered parking is available, albeit limited during peak times. Guests must bring their own pool towels as they are not provided on-site.

What an adorable bungalow! Perfect location for our couple’s getaway. We did have one mishap when we locked ourselves out when we went out to have coffee on the porch. Beware, the front door automatically locks behind you! Took a walk on the beach until the rental office opened and they came right away with a spare key. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again.

Just As Advertised!

While my trip did not end so well, the stay itself was wonderful! The cottage was so clean, comfy, and cute. It was stocked with the basic essentials incase we didn’t have our own. The Host was so communicative and helpful before, during, and even after my stay. I would definitely recommend staying here and I personally would stay here again!

Very quaint cottage, very cute inside, outside of property wasn’t really taken care of garage. Cottage was a little rundown, the only thing bad I would say about the cottage is the kitchen window needs a blind or curtain didn’t work on the remote so it was a very loud on. But the location is great very close to the beach and the inside of the cottage was decorated very cute and more updated..

Cute & Cozy!

This little cottage is so cute and idyllic. It's perfectly appointed with great living spaces and bedrooms for a small family. Everything is charming and has many of the quaint details of a vintage cottage but with essential updates like a cold AC, clean refrigerator, ceiling fans, working light fixtures with nice lighting, and comfortable beds. The screen porch and the outside patio are so adorable and we really enjoyed time in each of these spaces. We also loved the outdoor shower. It was not gross and it was private enough to use each day. The close proximity to the beach was great and we brought our bikes, so being located in the mid-beach area we were easily able to bike the whole island. Our only suggestion would be to have proper bedding on all of the beds. Only one of the beds included sheets and a blanket, all of them had sheets, and one didn't have a mattress pad. We will definitely come back and bring bedding along with us, which is what we suggest to anyone renting this sweet little cottage!

Price & Location Perfection

This little cottage was the perfect mix of price and location. There are closer more expensive places, and there are further less expensive places. But this property was affordable with an easy 3-minute walk from door to sand. Public Beach access #10 is in the middle of the island and never crowded (in late July). We didn't use the pool at the Palms, but it would've been an even shorter walk. The local grocery (IGA) is just a 5 minute walk, but expect a 20+ minute walk (or short drive) north or south for restaurants and shopping. Our kids (13 and 11) each had a twin bed (didn't use the 3rd trundle), and my wife and I shared the comfy king. Shirley Road is quiet and private so the outdoor shower worked for rinsing off sand after a day at the beach, but also as a regular shower when needed.

Lovely bungalow near the beach

We found the house to be charming with all the amenities we needed and even it just having 1 bathroom was not a problem for our family of 4. Our favorite part was the 3 minute walk to the beach! The beds were comfortable, the living room as well, and we appreciated the nicely stocked kitchen.

Missing our time in Tybee Island & Savannah

Wow, we loved this place! The cottage was the perfect spot for our family of four! I loved the beachy backdrop, and it was well-stocked with the necessary kitchen and bath items! Such an amazing time, we hope to go back! We highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Tybee Island looking for a comfortable, cozy stay!

Awesome Tybee Cottage

This is the perfect location if you want to go to tybee with just your family. The cottage is perfectly located for access to the beach and the IGA (grocery store). It is well appointed with everything you need.

Overall great but just a few things

I dislike being negative but just a few things that I believe can be fixed. Communication with the property people was a bit of a struggle. I had a booking issue and 1 question about our stay. Both I had to follow up with a repeat message and one I resolved on my own. 1 question I sent them another message after 19 days passed. Second, which may not seem like a big deal to some but the windows had no screens. Some didn't open. But you have to be careful about leaving a window open because there are big bugs. The weather was not hot and we really love the fresh air. Yes, the cottage is old and maybe they don't make them the same size, but Home Depot sells adjustable screens that you can pop in. One last thing is that the "cut through", to the beach, is through the neighbors yard. I gave this place 5 stars because I would definitely stay here again. I would pick up a few screens from home depot on my way. But the cottage was lovely. It was clean, the towels were soft and the bed was comfortable. The street was quiet and sitting on the porch was nice listening to the wind through the trees and the sound of the sea. I agree with other people that the location is nice. 10th street is a quiet section of the beach but you can walk down to the Pier in no time. My favorite was watching the sunrise on the beach with my coffee. The pictures are accurate, it is a very cozy place.

Nice location and very quiet!

We had a great stay at Shirley Road. Easy access to the beach and located near the grocery store. This is a nice size place for a couple with a kid or two but if you have a larger family you would need more room.

Family Vacation

Perfect for our family of 5! This house was cute, clean, on a quiet street and just a short walk to the beach! This was our first time to Tybee Island, and it was exactly what we were looking for and met all our expectations. One thing we personally really liked was it wasn't near the pier, which we preferred, as the beach wasn't as crowded. But it was still close enough where we could take a nice 15-20 minute stroll down the beach if we wanted to head over there. Again, loved the house and loved Tybee Island!

Great family beach getaway!

Family of 5 (7 yr, 4 yr and almost 2yr) The property was very clean when we arrived. Such a cute beach cottage. Perfect location to the beach, a less than 5 minute walk. Quiet neighborhood and close to a little grocery store. When we come back to Tybee we will be looking forward to staying at this perfect little cottage.
