The additional fees this property charges are ridiculous, especially charging more to customers that book through third parties such as Expedia. I would not have found the property if it wasn’t for Expedia. The hotel is trying to be a boutique upscale property, but falls short in several ways. They have a bit of an identity crisis. They need to embrace an upscale and sophisticated atmosphere with a relaxed and cozy vibe. Cleanliness could be better. Everything is in the small details. Shortcuts are taken in some areas, and it’s noticeable. They need to embrace a tropical/Florida vibe with decor, and not take shortcuts with things like patio chairs (arms on backwards), and cheap exterior lighting. The bathroom door appears to have been made by hotel maintenance, and it’s not put on correctly, and the handles are not practical. Have a full length mirror in the room, and have four pillows per bed, not three. Focus on service, and don’t charge or over charge for things like umbrellas and chairs when you’re charging a high service charge/fee. The pool is way too warm. It’s not refreshing at all. The property could also have better breakfast choices with more protein choices and perhaps some fresh cut fruit or fresh berries, etc. They seem to want to do better and be better, but something is hindering it, and it always starts from the top. Some changes in direction could make this property very nice. The beach location is nice, as is the close proximity to downtown St. Augustine.
