"The hosts are very kind and considerate and we had a nice stay in a traditional Japanese style room with very authentic Japanese meals for dinner and breakfast. The hotel is perhaps a little dated but it added to the charm and it is very clean. We didn’t get to try the outdoor onsen as we had hoped as we were put off but a large spider other guests alerted us to. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay."

"We stayed at this ryokan for 3 nights and we loved it there! It is family driven and has such a lovely and local feeling. Our room was big, authentic and had a really nice onsen. We received the best breakfast every morning, it was the best we ever had. We also had dinner there 1 night, and it was such an experience. Everything tasted amazing and we loved that the ingredients was local and in season. We also got help for activities. "

"Okuhida Hot Spring Hirayukan is conveniently located, just a short and easy walk from the Hirayu Onsen bus terminal. A small shop beside the ryokan sells snacks and drinks, which is useful especially in the quieter evenings. Check in was smooth and the ryokan already had our Expedia reservations. As with most Japanese ryokan, copies of our passports were taken. We stayed in the Japanese Style Room, Sengakuso, Non Smoking (35 sqm).
