Skellig Michael is an island off the coast of Portmagee, made famous recently as a filming location in the newest Star Wars trilogy. This sea crag rises 700 feet above the Atlantic and is home to a series of monastic beehive huts that housed Christian monks from the 7th to 12th centuries. Almost entirely cut off from civilization, it’s amazing to think what life must have been like for the hermit monks that inhabited this island a thousand years ago. #History

This sea crag rises 700 feet above the Atlantic and is swarming with puffins. At the top is a series of monastic beehive huts. The island is only accessible by boat during summer months. If you want to do a boat landing to explore the island, be sure to book your tour several months in advance, as it sells out quickly. It's a place to bring a picnic and explore the #GreatOutdoors.

Good news: We were able to check-in early. Not so good news: 1) One of the bedroom bathrooms/shower had mold. 2) There were spiders hanging from the kitchen/dining area. My wife watched one about ready to drop on my head!

By far my favorite place I’ve ever stayed in Ireland or America. Absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous views, lovely kitchen, the house was an amazing size. We had 3 adults and we all had amazing space.
