Looking for a place to spend four days in old Bisbee, we checked into The Block. This is a small six room hotel on the edge of the city. It is easy to access, safe parking, and great for starting an adventure.
The first thing we noticed was the hotel had no attendant. Everything is done online, including the check in. There is a number to call if you have problem. Our first problem was fighting with a number pass lock on the front door; it took about six attempts and various button pushing styles to get in. The couple after us also took about 15 minutes to get in so we weren’t feeling too bad about the task. The fight was not over when we went to our room on the second level. That door had a pass lock as well, so another three to five minutes before we got in.
Once in the room we noticed that there was no place to unpack clothes, no closet, no dresser, no armoire. There are also no extras in this room, such as a microwave or fridge. You can head downstairs for coffee in the morning so that’s a plus. I ended up leaving my clothes in the suitcase the whole time we were there.
The bathroom is small, but we needed to take a shower. The shower had one of those heads that is supposed to save water. This one however had such force that we could not stand under the water feeling like we were being drilled by it. It was good for washing your hair, but left a few discolorations on my forearms.
For all this going on, we still had a great time in Bisbee. Sorry to say we won’t be returni
