Varme og charme
Sen ankomst, trætte efter en lang tur. Det meget venlige personalet i receptionen tog godt imod os og skyndte sig at sørge for en bid natmad. Stedet har en skøn have med en del fugleliv. Beliggenhed 10 minutters gang fra centrum og tæt på offentlig busstation.

No water for the 24 hours we were there. They said it was city wide but stores, restaurants, and nicer hotels had water. We assumed no cistern

If you stay here you would want a room that overlooks the patio rather than the noisy street.

Sleepable, not confortable
Its a good hotel for transiting in San Jose. The person at the reception was lovely but apart from that we were happy not to stay longer. The room is not really welcoming, very simple and spartiat. The pictures defenitly looked better.

We had an alright stay. Lots of noise but that seems to be the case everywhere we’ve been in San Jose. WIFI was horrible. Good breakfast. Staff was nice. Not bad for a quick stopover.

Cozy, comfortable, friendly B&B centrally located
We, a family of three, very much enjoyed our short stay at Hotel Kekoldi and wished we could have stayed longer. Kekoldi is a small boutique hotel with very friendly, welcoming and helpful hosts and service. Our room (#1) was pretty basic (BYO bathroom amenities) but very spacious and clean, which was all we needed. When I was able to catch a peak in room #2 though, I saw that that one has very lovely design/stucco. Although it is very centrally located in inner San Jose, close to major bus terminals (e.g. Gran Caribe Terminal for going to Tortuguero is in walking distance), museums and parks, it is nice and quiet. It has a cute courtyard and garden, and an artsy breakfast nook, where we enjoyed a very yummy complimentary breakfast with made to order eggs, homemade jam and toast, fresh fruits, fruit juice, cereals, coffee/tea. Some people remarked they had a hard time finding it...yes, at night the hotel sign is hard to see (half-covered by a plant), but google maps has no problem to lead you to the address. Then it's up a staircase to ring the night bell at the wrought-iron gate, which is locked at night - as it should be in any major city center. When we rang the bell, someone immediately came to let us in and welcome us. There is a great selection of restaurants in walking distance (such as Cafe Mundo and Cafe Rojo), and we felt safe enough in the area to walk back from a restaurant at 10 pm. Absolutely great value for money!

Good Hotel, Great Value.
This hotel was well worth the expense. The room was large and the breakfast good. The location was also good. I would stay there again and may do so when I return to San Jose later in July.

Off the main streets hotel
Lots of room with an extra bed in a separate area. The breakfast was fruit, toast, homemade jams and cooked to order eggs.

Rooms were comfortable and the staff folks were friendly and helpful. Area is a bit sketchy but close to city core. The hotel is hard to find (sign is difficult to see from the street) so your cab/shuttle driver should be forewarned.

Decent Hotel for Leaving from Terminal 7-10
The hotel is decent. The front desk manager was helpful with all of our questions of the area. The area is not the nicest, but better than the area around Bus Terminal 7-10 (where we were leaving the next morning).

The Hotel Kekoldi Garden is in the midst of being sold, so it's hard to know if the current proprietor had just given up on it, anticipating the transfer to a new owner or if it's always been like this. However, it provides extremely basic accommodations, which is disappointing because it has so much potential. Perhaps the new owners will turn it into something great, but right not it isn't anything special.

The staff couldn’t be more accommodating. Only problems were water pressure in bathroom would sometimes trickle to nothing and there was a very bad smell in the bathroom almost always.

A one night layover in San Jose, before heading to La Fortuna. Looking for a comfortable, but low cost, hotel in downtown. This hotel was the perfect fit. Not fancy, but clean and comfortable.

The owner was really friendly, charming, very helpful, polite and knowledgeable. He went out of his way for us. We had to leave at 6am but he gave us coffee and fruit before we left. It is in a very good location. The only thing we didn’t like was that we could only spend one night there as we had booked trips around Costa Rica.

A great little hotel
A very small hotel but a joy to stay at. Vincent the owner plus the staff could not be faulted - they were excellent. The breakfast was good but it would have been nice to have some yogurt.I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.Good location, close to the town centre and near the bus station.

Excellent deal for the money. Great location with excellent service. Everything is very clean and there was a very nice breakfast included in the price. Just around the corner to some beautiful parks and museums.

Great hotel converted from large house. Great breakfast with made to order eggs. Room did not have ac but this was not needed in May. Area is central but quiet at night, recommend use taxi at night.

An oasis in the city
This little city hotel is an oasis in the bustle of San Jose. It has great charm and the staff is so over the top helpful. I love the artful decor and the bright colors. The garden is a bird watching haven. My mattress was the great. The bathrooms are updated with good hot water for a shower and a real hair dryer! Yes it is an older building, but the remodel has kept its charm while making it very comfortable.

NOT SAFE LOCATION
We had a shock when we reached to the hotel. There are few girls hanging around and approached to me, and other girl came to me said something but I don´t understand Spanish. Also, there are few men around building with backpack, and keep watched us because we keep drove around the building to find a entrance. The building was so dark and totally blocked with black iron grills. So, we gave up to stay at this hotel and get another hotel.

We are very sorry if you were ´reluctant to come into the hotel. We were waiting for with main door widely opened and many clients came in or went out after and before you sent your message telling that you did not want to come. In all the country windows have iron protection because there are not shutters on the windows. We remind you that you were not charged despite we had the right to do it.

Hotel bonito ... le falto mas a mi habitacion
La habitación era mas pequeña de lo que esperaba... no era como la de las fotos. Le falta un poco de mantenimiento de pintura mas por fuera que por dentro. El dueño es muy sonriente y el desayuno es rico y muy fresco. Me gusto la atención personal del dueño.

Nice hotel with good staff and breakfast
Overall a good hotel. Located in downtown so traffic is loud. The staff was very helpful and the fruit and eggs for breakfast were very good. I would definitely stay here again.

Wij verbleven 1 nacht in kekoldi garden. Het personeel was zeer behulpzaam echter was de hygiëne op de kamers wat minder, vlekken op het dekbed en de gordijnen. En het toilet spoelde niet goed door en dit was vervelend. Verder was dit hotel goed voor 1 nacht, maar zou er niet meerdere nachten willen verblijven.

Overall. BAD!
Long story short, I never ended up staying here. You really do get what you pay for. This hotel is in a bad area and all the locals were warning me. When we first arrived we were in shock. There was a man doing drugs on the stairs and that was strike 1. The outside of this "hotel' was false advertising, and if you have luggage, good luck getting up those stairs (strike 2). The staff was not helpful whatsoever and the rooms were disgusting. I've learned my lesson! I'd rather pay $100 more for a Marriott.

Overall lies ! You never entered into our hotel nor met our staff. You were charged cancelation fees and did not object. We send you to messages to have explanations regarding your comments and you did not respond. All the hotel was renovated inside and all bathrooms are new. This is slanderous.
