"We are a group of cyclists in town for The Tour of the Battenkill 2025. The property was absolute perfection. A beautifully restored farm house with lots of barn space for our bikes, we felt so comfortable and welcome there. The house is perfectly appointed with tons of space and comfortable bedrooms. We had two wonderful dinners and sat out on the beautiful patio watching the sunset and reliving the Bike Race of the day.The grounds are exquisitely kept and a morning hike on the property was...

"OMG - this place is fantastic. An oasis of peace and quiet yet close to so many things - Albany Rep for theatre, 38 mins away, Saratoga - 38 min away, Bennington museums - 38 min away. Manchester VT - 38 min away. This house is so impeccably appointed and comfortable, you want for nothing. Add in the "see to the horizon" sight lines out your bedroom window and you know you are in heaven. You know the host cares for your comfort - she has even added a bit of magic to your stay"

"South Shire is a beautiful place filled with history and character. The staff were wonderful; kind and attentive. They were welcoming to us and our pup throughout the stay. We were very happy with the quality of the mattress and linens as well as the ac being nice and cold on a very hot day (not always things you find in an older bed and breakfast.) We would absolutely stay here again. "

"We stayed in a tiny houss that was well equipped. Upon checking in we met Henry who works on the property. He was great, helped us get settled and answered all our questions. The site is on the Hudson and has nice views. The onsite restaurant was great too! Shout out to Rachel behind the bar and Matt our waiter."

"Perfect for the price. An old place and decor is straight from grandmas summerhouse, but clean and all was working. Wifi is free. The Hilton in Walton we just left, charged $15 per day."

"This is a lovely Inn that is as charming as its setting. An unexpected pleasure was the delicious food. I loved that you pick your breakfast time and food choice the day before. My only regret was not staying long enough to have each of the breakfast offerings. An added delight was dinner at the Inn. Definitely a 5 star experience. We ate there two nights - each meal choice was superb. Service matched the taste. An overall delightful experience, well worth the cost. I'm still dreaming about...
