"The sargassum was intolerable. They cleaned it up everyday, but the smell was off-putting. Not the fault of the hotel so no dings for that. Most of the staff were very friendly, but not all. Maybe they don’t care for tourists. Definitely a chill in the air on an otherwise balmy island. If we visit St. Lucia again, we’ll be looking for accommodations a little more upscale. Nice for families in a budget, however. "

"The Royalton Resort on Saint Lucia is in a beautiful location. It is quite a distant ride from the airport (at least 90 minutes - so be prepared). The staff was excellent; very accommodating and friendly. The pool and beach area were very clean and well staffed - offering towels and bar service. The bars provided a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, but don't expect top shelf without extra cost. There was no food service at the outside bars, which would have been a great addition....

The resort is below standards, has recently been bought out by Royalton and will be shutting down for demolishing starting August.
