"We stayed here for our anniversary and left feeling so refreshed and grateful. The cabin is beautiful, welcoming, and full of thoughtful touches that made it easy to settle in and slow down. We especially loved relaxing in the hot tub under the stars and waking up to the peaceful stillness around us—it really felt like a true getaway.Gays Mills is a very small town, so you’re truly stepping away from distractions and into rest, which was exactly what we needed. We heard that fall brings a whole...

"My husband and I found ourselves with a couple of childfree days around my birthday and decided we wanted a quiet place to unplug during the day, relax, and watch scary movies at night without fear of waking up little kids. We did a quick search on VRBO and landed on this cabin given its proximity to Minneapolis (not too far away, not too close) along what we assumed would be a nice, scenic drive. First, let’s talk about the location. Despite living 3.5 hours away for the last 20 years, I...

"The owners were very responsive. The property was well kept and comfortable. Even with the owners living on site, there was no one bothering us. We didn’t do any outdoor activities on the property with all of the cabins being rather close together with no separation, but it was too hot to be outside anyway."

"Great spot!"

"The apartment is spacious, very clean, and comfortable. It features beautiful views of Elkader. The location is in easy walking distance to the shops, restaurants, and riverfront trail. I hope to stay again. "

"Nice and cozy place to stay."

"The converted jail was such an interesting and unique place to stay. The property is beautiful, the house and room were clean and inviting, and the cell block was a great place to hang out and explore. We loved morning coffee on the balcony and the fabulous whirlpool tub for relaxing. Make sure to check out the incredible food at the local Algerian restaurant, and a lovely river walk, or explore the four story antique mall in town!"

"The host makes everything real easy for you. You and your family will have a good time!"

"First time using Vrbo and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The space was a cute little spot right off the main road, making it super easy to get to everything. The house was clean, well-lit, and had such a cozy feel - especially the super comfy bed. The host was incredibly easy to communicate with and very quick to respond, which made everything smooth and stress-free. Would definitely stay again!"

"If 6 stars were possible I would rate Kathi & her property 6’s across the board. Spectacular views of the night skies with no ambient light. Terrific lodging & set/up! Convenient to excellent dining, state forest trekking, fly fishing, & relaxing all in the same “package”.Planning another fall visit & trying for some nights next year already."
