Just returned from another stay at Palm Grove and we will be back again in the future! Can’t beat this place for the value and location! Spend the few extra bucks and upgrade to the beachfront studios, they are fantastic! Staff is always friendly and the free tropical breakfast is great! Thank you SO much for another wonderful stay at Palm Grove!

Would not stay here again
Palm Grove is well located with a nice beach. Restaurant was clean and meals were good. However the "resort" is in need of maintenance and refurbishment. Stench of blocked drains in G7 bungalow, no hot water in kitchen of G10, doors that don't lock from the inside in G9. At almost $400 per night I expected some sympathy/empathy and help with my request for a firm mattress due to a back injury. No sympathy and no assistance at all. I spent 7 nights sleeping on cushions on the floor. Would not stay here again. Much better accommodation options nearby.

Kia Orana Joe. Sorry to hear you had such a different experience from so many of our happy guests. With the exception of asking me for a different mattress, none of the other issues you've mentioned were ever raised with Management. As I explained to you, we only have the same type of high quality commercial grade mattresses in every bungalow, so it was impossible for me to supply you with a different mattress. To be honest, we usually receive rave reviews about our mattresses, so your feedback is very out of the ordinary. I certainly did say I was very sorry to hear your back issues were bothering you, so I'm unsure how that translated to "no sympathy." Given that the same hot water is supplied to all of G10, I have no idea how the kitchen wouldn't have hot water when the bathroom does; I've just been over to that unit now and there is no issue with the hot water in the kitchen. Our Garden Studios at 285/night, not almost 400. Sounds like Palm Grove Resort was the wrong accommodation choice for you and we do hope you enjoy a better option next time. Cheers.

I love this property. We've bene going to it since 1996. HOWEVER! There are roosters on the island and this property has one that sleeps near B8 on the edge of the property. Now, most roosters will start going off at sunrise as is their nature, but Raro roosters like to sound off at midnight and throughout the night. In 2016, we were in B8 and the rooster that was there went off every hour from 11 pm through 7 am. And the bungalows are not sound proof. Nearly ruined that vacation. This time, I thought I was being smart and asked in my reservation, which was done several months in advance, to specifically not be placed in the ocean bungalows near the rooster. The property's response was roosters don't sleep in the palm trees. That is correct, but there is a different type of tree near the road, right next to B8 and it DOES sleep in that tree. Well, guess what units we got? B7 and B8, right next to the rooster. AGAIN. This rooster wasn't as bad but it still went off at midnight and 4 am. I love this property but I don't think I will be going back there again, which is a great shame. Not sure if roosters are protected (which is what I was told in 2016 when I was at my wits end) but if so, someone could make a good living relocating roosters from resort areas into the center of the island. The location is great; near the 24/7 Wigmore's store, very few people on the beach, and lots of fish in the snorkeling area which is 200 yards of 4 ft deep water.

The owner of the property could be more hospitable. All staff is wonderful. The owner, she could take some lessons from them!! Even “Good Morning” would be a good start.

It was very quiet and perfect for relaxation. The beach area was spectacular with great swimming and snorkeling. To improve they need to remove the roosters which constantly crow and interupt the peaceful atmosphere

The wild chickens are part of the Rarotonga lifestyle and is certainly not something limited to Palm Grove. But we will take your suggestion to cull them under advisement. Love the beachfront villa.
We have stayed here previously and we loved it in our absolute beachfront villa, staff are very friendly, the restaurant is great for meals and drinks, there is a small supermarket a short walk away, the villa has a kitchenette which is great, the beds are very comfortable, we will definitely be back again.

The unit was very clean and the bed comfortable. The cleaning and maintenance staff were very friendly, nice people. The restaurant staff were the same and the food was great and reasonably priced. The office staff tended to be a bit humourless and the wifi almost nonexistant. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it

When we booked this through wotif the photos of this unit weren’t pictured via either palm grove website or wotif. When we arrived and were informed of the unit it was not at all what we intended. The feeling at the time was that we had been cheated, and false advertising forced us to believe something that wasnt, the unit is dated and right next to the road. We will not book through wotif again. However with this being said, Palm Grove does not deserve a bad rating, the unit was clean, facilities were great, location was great and service from staff was excellent. Wotif is entirely to blame.

Nur ein paar Schritte zum Strand, man kann Schnorchelsachen, Strandschuhe oder Kanus ausleihen. Ein kleiner Supermarkt ist auch nicht weit, Bushaltestelle direkt vor der Tür. Eigenes Restaurant mit sehr leckerer Küche. Beim Frühstück ist noch ein bisschen Luft nach oben. Ach ja, und die Hähne krähen ab morgens 5 Uhr :-)

Great location, friendly staff and good restaurant. Beautiful beach!!! Reception closing at 5pm weekdays and half day Saturday and not at all Sundays was a little annoying when you had a quick query.

Relaxing Tropical Escape
Palm Grove Resort was a great escape. Reasonably well maintained, given it’s humid tropical climate, the grounds and pool area are beautiful. A new bbq arrived during our stay. The beach furniture, kayaks, snorkels and fins were all well maintained. The rooms could use some updating. Some had received partial renovations in the kitchen and bathroom areas and others had not. Some appliances were newer and others were starting to rust. I also found it difficult to cook, unless you just bbq’d. Larger pots and microwave bowls or casseroles would help out here. AC worked well, but was rigged to go off when you left the room. The beds were very comfortable. Maid daily service included making the bed, a towel change, sometimes a sweep, garbage removal, but not any wipe down of surfaces in the bathroom, shower, vanity, coffee or dining tables during our 9 day stay. The Sunday BBQ and Friday Happy Hour were great, as was the music supplied. Food at the restaurant was good. An adequate breakfast was included and given this is not the norm on the island, was appreciated. The front desk did a good job at coordinating airport transfer, wifi purchase, snorkel rental and outings. They also rented scooters. There is a car rental a couple of blocks away along with a reasonably well stocked convenience store. Rarotonga is very remote, with sporadic wifi only in HOT SPOTS There is one TV channel and life becomes the beach, relaxing and socializing.

I loved my stay here. I stayed in a beachfront studio and it was perfect. To go to sleep hearing the waves every night was divine and the beach area and snorkelling were both very good. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel lies on the south of the island with the most beautiful beach. Set in a lovely garden with houses around the pool. Beachfront houses have perfect oceanfront views. We had a spacious two bedroomed apartment which fulfilled all our needs. Would definitely have return. There was only one negative point,which would only apply to our apartment, and that was the smell of cigarettes every morning from the communal area next door where the hotel employees assembled prior to work begin.

Palm Grove was the perfect place to spend a few days breaking the jet lag cycle between two continents. It was a quiet pleasant step back in time. The locals were friendly but unobtrusive. Palm Grive was nicely situated on the southern side of the island - all of which could be navigated in about an hour in the local bus - in either a clockwise or anticlockwise direction.

Privacy right on the beach.
We were very pleased. Comfortable in all ways. Aircon, which we didn't use as the ceiling fan was great. Private deck over the sand . Ranch slider access with louvre slider alternative for ventilation. Great snorkeling at your door step. The Yellow Hibiscus is the on site restaurant which is very good. A nice touch was the book exchange. Just help yourself and return when read. Great books too. Kayaks, pool and BBQ available. A two minute work to Wigmores Superette. A five minute walk down the beach, or road to Vaima Restaurant for a cocktail at sunset. All very convenient.

We loved the gorgeous location at the edge of great snorkelling and on the bus route to all amenities and sights of Rarotonga. The Yellow Hibiscus restaurant on the property laid out a tasty breakfast each morning and we ate like royalty..

Another great stay at Palm Grove
This is the third time we have stayed at Palm Grove. We really enjoy the beachfront bungalow and the proximity to the beach. We collected our scooters from Palm Grove reception and renewed our licence at the police station. Don't forget to take your passport now for your licence. The local roosters are still too loud, but theres not much that can be done about them. The long lunch at Antipode was a highlight. You get your own dog and cat:) A wonderful place and cannot wait to come back. Thank you

Our daughter loved the pool; the kids had tons of fun in there. There's a white sand beach with kayaks and snorkel gear provided. The waves are very small close to the beach due to the reef. The whole outside of the island is beach so none of it was crowded; it was always very easy to go walking, sitting, swimming, kayaking, etc. I quite liked the superior bungalows for more space and privacy. Breakfast was good here. The island bus that comes in front of the hotel is a good way to get around with the only difficulties being the lax times and only coming once an hour. The Tuk-tuk tour was very informative; I'd recommend doing that early on in a trip.

Close to the beach
Beach and water very clean, good swimming and snorkling. Toilet bowl could do with replacing, badly scratched on inside and gave impression of not clean. Also had a urine smell coming in after room closed up all day, we purchased toilet cleaner to spray around bowl each day. All glass top surfaces were not cleaned properly giving first impression that room not clean. Staff need to clean properly with a clean cloth and cleaner. Only one TV channel but found it refreshing not having a choice. Bathroom sink and kitchen were never cleaned the whole time we were there. Few negatives but we would stay again.

I have made housekeeping aware of your concerns. Please note we use a microfibre cleaning system that limits chemical usage in order to further our eco-friendly policies. Gem on the beach
A beautiful location on the beach on the south side of Rarotonga. We had a beachfront bungalow studio which was well equipped, a comfortable king bed, 3 piece bathroom, closet and kitchen. The view is tremendous and the breezes off the sea wonderful. Great staff. The complex has a pool, free snorkelling equipment, water shoes and sea kayaks. Very quiet and relaxing.

Kia Orana Anonymous, Thanks for your feedback. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. As you haven't shared any information about yourself, I am unsure of your exact room category. However, having described it as a family unit, I am assuming it is one of our onsite houses. I'd like to let other readers know that all of our bungalows and houses, regardless of their original build date, have been completely refurbished in the last two years. This includes all new kitchens, bathrooms, interior repaint, all new furniture, beds, linens, curtains, etc. That being said, we are in the tropics and so insect life will be more prevalent than what you might be used to at home. Thank you for your feedback that you would recommend us to others. We do hope you'll consider staying with us again should your travels bring you back to Rarotonga in the future.

Great comfort and value at the Palm Grove resort
A very well organized and run mini resort with great staff and a really pleasant atmosphere. Really comfortable beds and pillows, air con, staff were wonderful, and really frat included breakfasts. Highly recommend as the price is so reasonable.

Lovely bungalows
Our plane arrived in the early morning and we were seamlessly collected and transported to Palm Grove. Our van driver opened the office, (which did not open until 8:30), and gave us our room key on the spot! He also indicated that breakfast was included, (even on our arrival day), and we could go immediately, if we wished. That set the tone for our stay! Our bungalow was clean, quiet, and cool. There were kayaks, SUPs, and snorkelling gear to use on the beach in front of the bungalows. The breakfast was adequate, and we also had 2 very good evening meals onsite, even one with a singer/guitarist. I would return!

Beautiful beachfront hut!
Opening up the sliding door to the beach is well worth the price you'll pay for this hotel. Staff is great, units on the beach are comfortable, and the room rates are affordable. The location is slightly remote if you are relying on walking to get around, but there are a few interesting things close by such as the waterfall, abandoned Sheraton property and the nice Wigmore market, and anything else you need to get to can be reached by bus, rental car, scooter or better yet, bicycle. I'd absolutely stay again.

Nice place ... But don't use their transfers
Very nice place with huge rooms overlooking the garden, very clean, great breakfast included and well kept grounds. Regarding Transfers .... I would NOT book them with the accommodation. No one turned up to pick us up at the airport so we had to get the local bus eventually. When we mentioned this nicely to the miserable old woman behind the desk ( not the smiley young one ) she actually had a go at us, saying that we should have got on a mini bus ( which was not there) and then got even more "off hand" when we mention this. Because of this we confirmed that we DID NOT require a return transfer to the airport because it was unreliable, they confirmed this ... and then a transfer turned up !!!! Basically, catch the local bus, it stops right outside the airport and will drop you off directly outside reception for $5 each

Quiet, clean and very pleasant chalet. One fluorescent light and one gas ring on stove was not operational.

Beach Front Paradise
This was our second stay at Palm Grove & unfortunately some things have declined. House wine was so bad it was undrinkable. (Mix Ribena & cranberry together!) Some of the staff are grumpy & snappy when under pressure. Others like Mata & Joanne are unbelievably helpful & professional. In 10 days, cleaners only attended to the bathroom towels, (never the sink taps or shower), made the bed (most days) & swept floors. General cleaning is obviously never done. Light switches, light fittings, headboard & wardrobe doors were covered in dust. They don't do dishes either. None the less we had a fabulous holiday on one of the most beautiful beaches on the island & will visit Raro again soon.

Good stay
Friendly helpful staff. Nice place to stay with an excellent lagoon out front for snorkelling. The only negative was that the hot water was inconsistent bring lukewarm at best some mornings Overall was a good place

Like having your private little flat in paradise..
This was ideal for our family. It was having our own little private house rather then connected apartments. Having the beach across the road was awesome. The receptionist was very helpful and organised our trips out eg Capt Tama tours and having breakfast as part of the deal was great. There is a laundry room, we could hang out wet clothes outside, an outside shower to wash off the sand. We were always out but coming back to a clean room was awesome. My kids were either at the pool or the beach. We had quality family time - monopoly, card etc

Great pick all around
A beautiful little resort right on the beach with all the rentals included such as snorkel sets and kayaks plus a great little breakfast. A fantastic stay.
